Richard D. Hansen
Mr. Hansen is a global security expert with over 21 years of experience as a United States Navy SEAL.
Establishing a proven record of steadfast leadership, managerial and administrative skills; he has been
principally involved in the planning, coordination and management of large scale and discreet security
operations, both domestic and foreign, in the most hostile environs. Providing consistent, positive, and
low-profile security procedures in support of government and corporate clients; he is a recognized authority
in anticipating, analyzing, and providing pre-emptive, minimum impact solutions to situations before they
become problems.
Mr. Hansen is a 1985 graduate from Mohegan College and has attended over 50 formal military schools in
a wide variety of fields with an emphasis on leadership/management, unconventional operations, and all
aspects of personal/physical security procedures. A Spanish linguist, he is also a Nationally Certified
Emergency Medical Technician, Emergency Vehicle Operator, Hazardous Materials Operator, and
Level II Firefighter.
While in government service, Mr. Hansen served as a Naval Special Warfare Operator and Officer in a
variety of sensitive, operational billets with an emphasis on semi-permissive environment, denied area, and
combat operations. Among his many accomplishments, Mr. Hansen envisioned, planned and coordinated
the establishment of the highly sensitive Special Projects Department for the Navy’s component to the
Department of Defense’s Counter Terrorist Joint Task Force (CTJTF). He personally managed and
participated in a multitude of classified worldwide taskings in support of U.S. and foreign governments,
militaries, and agencies while assigned in a myriad of sensitive billets and was a founding member of the
Navy’s first counter-terrorist team. As an original member of the Naval Security Coordination Team (RED
CELL) he served as the Executive Protection Training Supervisor and Special Projects Manager. In these
capacities he was the primary contact for sensitive U.S. State Department Physical/Executive Security
Operations, was key to the conduct of Physical Security Exercises at DOD/U.S. government installations
worldwide, and provided personal/physical protection to key U.S. personnel and facilities in high threat
countries.
Detailed to various government agencies; Mr. Hansen was assigned to the U.S. Department of Energy
Office of Oversight and Evaluations to provide a capability analysis of the Transportation Safeguards
Divisions (TSD), planned, coordinated and conducted a series of Vulnerability Exercises on the Rocky
Flats Facility and developed techniques, tactics, and procedures to the Office of Oversight and Evaluation
Crisis Action Team. While assigned to the United States Secret Service as the Supervisor of
President Bush’s Maritime Security Detail; he was instrumental in planning, coordinating and personally
overseeing the protection of the President, his family, and numerous visiting heads of state. He provided
sensitive training in a wide range of skills as a member of the U.S. State Department Mobile
Security Team and participated in numerous physical and personal protection operations for the United
States Ambassadors to El Salvador, Lebanon, Philippines, and Colombia, high-level government personnel,
and foreign dignitaries.
Currently the Director of Security Management Services for Applied Marine Technologies Incorporated;
Mr. Hansen has coordinated and led numerous Vulnerability Assessments and Regional Security Surveys at
U.S. Government and corporate installations worldwide and possesses comprehensive instruction and
practical applications as an instructor/operator in Special Operations, Low Intensity Conflicts, Anti- and
Counter-Terrorism, Executive Protection, Physical Security, Counter Narcotics Operations, Hostage
Barricade Situations/Negotiations, Vulnerability Assessments, Close Quarters Battle/Urban Warfare,
Communications, Search and Seizure Techniques, and Computer Security. Additionally, he is qualified in
United States Federal Court as an expert witness in “ the military applications of small arms to include
semi-automatic pistols, revolvers, submachineguns and sniper weapons.”
