PROCAM (Professionals Cancer Awareness Measure) for Train the Trainers Project

Aims and objectives
The overall aim of the measure is to assess GP Trainers knowledge, capability and skills relating to
the early diagnosis of cancer. It has been developed with Cancer Research UK and you are the first
community of GPs to use it. Please complete this 10 minute questionnaire – it is a key part of the
evaluation of the project.
Specific objectives :
 Knowledge of potential cancer signs and symptoms
 Knowledge of NHS cancer screening programmes, eligibility, local uptake/coverage,
Age extension, flexi sig screen for 55y olds, awareness of different language screening
leaflets , prostate managed risk programme,PSA shared decision making tool
 Knowledge and current practice of available cancer risk assessment tools
 Perceived risk and severity of cancer
 Attitudes towards cancer and early diagnosis
 Beliefs about their role in diagnosing cancer earlier
 Beliefs about patient attitudes towards cancer – also CAM in their own population
 Confidence in teaching GPRs about cancer diagnosis in primary care
