Meet Your Teachers Lloyd Caldwell – Stage Combat Lloyd is a member of the Theatre Faculty of Oklahoma State University, and a Riata Fellow in the Spears School of Business. In a career spanning 30 years he has appeared off-Broadway and regionally, and in feature films and television. Since 1986 Lloyd has choreographed stage combat for 100 professional productions and 120 university productions in Canada, the United States and Europe . Lloyd is one of the founders of the International Order of the Sword and Pen, and served a five year appointment as the Executive Director. Through his company, Bladework, he has provided a wide variety of services to clients such as Universal Studios, Kings Productions, NBC, CBS, the BBC, and RTE'. This summer Lloyd choreographed for Junior Players, and consulted for Shakespeare Dallas. He spent the rest of his summer writing a book on the business of Fight Directing. Laura Dossett - Movement for Actors Laura currently serves as the Education Director for Theatre Tulsa and is committed to education outreach of the program and her work as a teaching artist. Laura previously directed Treasure Island and Cinderella and has also stage managed Bye Bye Birdie, Cats, The Little Mermaid, Jr., 13, Aladdin Jr., Children’s Letters to God ,and Oliver! She recently completed a tour of Puss in Boots and Other Cat Tails as part of the Harwelden Institute of the Arts. Laura received her BFA in theatre from Emporia State University in Kansas. There she was the artistic director and coordinator of the Educational Theatre Company, a small non-profit organization that performed touring shows written, directed, and performed by members of the company. Laura has been involved in over 40 productions in just the past six years doing a little bit of everything – stage management, directing, writing, costuming, and construction and performing. Barbara Fulton – Costumes: Transforming the Cast to Characters Barbara studied clothing design, communication consultancy and business administration at Oklahoma State University. She grew up remaking clothing and continues to upcycle clothing and all sorts of things. A creative, skilled tailor and active member of Town & Gown Theater, she volunteers in many roles, one of them being costumer. Barbara's classroom creativity team includes members of the Southern Plains Fiber Guild, a group whose focus is to educate, support and encourage handarts. Laurel George – Short-form improv games for beginners At an early age, Laurel George discovered that laughter was the best medicine. She’s been taking the stage performing comedy in many regional productions in Louisville, KY, as well as Orlando and Tampa, FL. In 2007, a career move took Laurel and her husband to Chicago where she fell in love with long‐form improv. Studying at iO Chicago, she performed on iO’s Harold team Owl Farm for two years. She studied music improv at Second City and advanced long‐form at Annoyance Theater. While in Chicago she became the City Director for the non‐profit Funny Bones Improv, serving as coach, producer and performer. In 2013, another career move took the Georges to Pittsburgh where she trained at Arcade Comedy Theater and Steel City Improv. In Pittsburgh, Laurel was an ensemble member on the music improv team and a Harold team at Arcade, consulted on Arcade’s children’s programming and produced her own two‐person show at Steel City Improv, By George. On screen, she portrayed Aunt Flo in Paramount Pictures’ “Not Cool” and in Starz Original Network’s series “The Chair”. Now in Tulsa, Laurel is the coach for Comedy Parlor’s Improv Club. She performs with T-Town Famous and Tulsa’s fanciest improv team, Blue Dome Social Club. Every month, Laurel manages and performs on a team that performs short-form show for patients and their families at Cancer Treatment Center. Karma McDonald – Makeup Karma is a Master at makeup.With over 15 years of experience in the makeup field, you can find her work in publications, local theaters, and on the movie screen. Although Karma is very fluent with beauty makeup, her forte is special effects and theater. She specializes in prosthetic production and application which landed her as a preliminary contestant for the reality show FACE OFF. Karma has worked with several producers on numerous music videos, motion pictures, and even in Las Vegas on the Cirque Du Soleil production of MYSTERE.Karma welcomes anyone who wants to learn the art form of makeup without hesitation. Julie Tattershall – The Art of the Actor: Character Development through Movement Julie has a BFA in theatre from University of Tulsa and a MHR Masters of Human Relations from University of Oklahoma. She has directed over 80 plays, developed, directed national and local original plays, play contests and created an improvisational troupe which has performed over 400 shows in the last twenty-five years. For 25 years she was the Park Manager /Artistic Director of Heller Theatre and Clark Theatre for the City of Tulsa. She has also implemented touring shows throughout the Tulsa area. She co-founded the Tulsa Area Community Theatre Alliance in 1998-2010. She has directed or acted with most of the theatre companies in the Tulsa Area. She has also worked as a teaching artist for Harwelden, Artist-in the Schools program and Tulsa Art and Humanities Council since 1988. 2012 Mary Kay Place Legacy Award from the Tulsa Awards for Theatre Excellence, funded by the George Kaiser Family Foundation, for lifetime achievement and contributions to the Tulsa theatre community. In 2014 Hall of Honor award from the Oklahoma Community Theatre Association, in recognition of the outstanding contribution to the development of community theatre in Oklahoma. Her current original play “Twirly and the Ugly Duckling”, is touring local elementary schools in the Tulsa area, in which she performs eight to ten different characters. She can also be found dancing, anyplace that will have her. Jason Watts- Intro to Improv Jason has been an Artist-In-Schools instructor, with Harwelden, for 9 years now. With a BFA in Theatre Direction from Loyola Marymount University, Jason has directed,written,and performed in numerous productions over the years. His focus shifted to improv comedy a dozen years ago, where he found much freedom to create many characters and stories on the fly, in front of audiences. In 2013, along with his wife, he opened the Comedy Parlor in downtown Tulsa. He now spends most of his time there getting silly. Jason continues to teach in the schools because he loves teaching children theater games and witnessing thejoy that comes from imaginative discovery. Some of Jason Watts’ many credits include: Copenhagen, Tuesdays with Morrie, Just Brunch, Hair, Bye Bye Birdie, A Few Good Men, The Crucible, A Christmas Carol, The Heiress, Three Penny Opera, The Tempest. He can currently be seen performing in multiple shows at the Comedy Parlor, including Comfort Creatures, By George, and T-Town Famous. Cody Whittenburg- Musical Theatre Cody is a native of Durant, OK, and studied with vocal music programs prior to moving to Stillwater to pursue a doctoral program at Oklahoma State University. His passions for vocal and piano performance expanded into the world of theater with an emphasis on musical theater. Recent musical productions include; Little Shop of Horrors; Clue: The Musical; I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change; Once Upon A Mattress; Radio Gals; and Legally Blonde: The Musicall.
