What You Need to Know: Islam
Name: ________
1. M_______________: “prophet” of Islam; wealthy merchant,
married Khadijah; claims to have been visited by an angel and told to
recite the words of God
2. Allah: Literally means “God” in Arabic; Arabic Christians usually say
“Allah al-Ab” which means God the Father
Muslims believe that Allah is: all powerful, all present, all knowing, and
merciful (sometimes). Muslims are constantly asking the question,
“Am I doing enough?” Even if they follow the 5 Pillars, they are not
sure. They are in constant fear of Allah.
3. Islam: Literally means “to s_______ to Allah”
Muslim: someone who follows Islam
4. Qur’an: the holy b______ of Islam
5. Mecca: where Muhammad was b______ (holy place in Islam)
6. M__________: building for Muslim prayer
7. Sunnah: record of Muhammad’s words and actions (do what
Muhammad did)
8. Jihad: “to s__________”; refers to inner struggle to obey God and
also to defend the Muslim community (or convert people to Islam);
“holy war”

Five Pillars of Islam

Allah and Muhammad is his prophet”

Whisper: (jihad)
Verses:
We can be sure that Jesus’ work is ENOUGH.
Matthew 5:48 You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is
perfect.
Which is impossible!! So no, we could never do enough.
Hebrews 10:10 once and for all
“This means “turn from sin and stop trying to please God by your own ability” and
“believe that Christ has accomplished everything for you.” The promise to those who
trust Christ is that they will become the children of God (John 1:12).
It was necessary for Jesus to give his life:
Isaiah 53:5-6
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his wounds we are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray;
we have turned—every one—to his own way;
and the LORDhas laid on him the iniquity of us all.
John 3:16
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him
should not perish but have eternal life.
John 14:6
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the
Father except through me.
You shouldn’t add anything to the Bible:
Deuteronomy 4:2
2 You shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep
the commandments of theLORDyour God that I command you.
Revelation 22:16-17
I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: pif anyone
adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, 19 and if
anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take
away his share inqthe tree of life and in rthe holy city, which are described in this
book.
18
They both cannot be true.
“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from
God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the
Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from
God; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the
antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world” (1
John 4:1-4)
Our reaction:
1. Pray for Muslims (in Panama and around the world)
2.
Get to know Muslims and get to understand them. Each person is different and they may have very
different beliefs. Understand them, form a friendship with them and show them Jesus through your life and
love for others, then engage them in an open conversation about Jesus.
Study and know the Scriptures and spend a lot of time with God.
Be bold when sharing about Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the
unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who
is the image of God.
2 Timothy 2:24
And rthe Lord’s servant5 must not be quarrelsome but skind to
everyone, table to teach, patiently enduring evil, 25 correcting his
opponents uwith gentleness. God vmay perhaps grant them
repentance wleading to a knowledge of the truth,
24
Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to
everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
Matthew 28:19-20 Great Commission
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and
of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you;
and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
