Describe an Advertisement
Read the paragraph about the Zodiac watch advertisement.

8. Underline in green the target for this product.
This is a product advertisement for Zodiac sports
watches. In the picture a man with a strong body is
trying to kill a snake. The snake is quite enormous. The
man looks very fierce! He has a Zodiac watch on his
wrist. The watch looks large and expensive. The man
also has a knife in his mouth. The snake is around the
man’s arm. The man is squeezing the snake’s throat! The
man is sweating with the effort. He is doing all this and
still wearing the watch. So the advertisement is showing
us that this watch is not only costly but also
unbreakable. It can be worn during any sports activity.
In the background we can see some grass. It looks like
an open field. In the lower right-hand corner of the
page there is a caption saying that this is the “ultimate
sports watch”. On the man’s hand, features of the watch
is listed. In the upper left- hand corner the Zodiac sign
is written in bold letters. This sports watch is for men.
Athletes and all sportsmen may be interested in this
product.

Now look at your textbooks and choose one advertisement from the five pictures on
pages 51 or 52. Write a paragraph about it following the example of the Zodiac
watches. Don’t forget to write a topic sentence and include adjectives, prepositions,
and the present continuous tense. Mention the target.
