COURSE ACTIVITIES:
Materials:
Students are expect to bring the following every day: PENCIL (no pens, please), texts,
notebook, notebook paper, and calculator.
Assignments:
Homework will be assigned on a daily basis. The homework is due the next class day after
it is assigned. Late assignments will NOT be accepted. Homework may only be made up due to
an EXCUSED absence. If the homework is not made up within three days of returning from the
excused absence, it will be considered a late assignment.
Assignments may be a worksheet, from the text, or from the INTERNET. These assignments are
designed to reinforce classroom instruction and will allow you to practice what has been
introduced in class. Unless otherwise specified, assignments turned in on time will be worth a
maximum of 10 points.
ALLGRADED WORK (EXCEPT PROJECTS) MUST BE DONE IN PENCIL ONLY.
Notes and Notebooks:
Daily notes are required and must be kept in a math notebook. If you are absent, it is your
responsibility to obtain notes that you missed.
You must maintain a 3-ring binder notebook for this class. It should have the following sections
1. Daily notes
2. Homework and online quizzes
3. Exams and quizzes.
Quizzes:
Unannounced quizzes will be given often at the beginning of the class period. Students will have
five minutes to complete the quiz which will cover material from previous lessons. Unannounced
quizzes can only be made up after school. If a student is tardy, he/she will have the remainder of
the five minutes to finish the quiz. These quizzes will be worth five points each.
Announced quizzes will be given at regular intervals.
Tests and Projects:
Chapter tests or a chapter project will serve as the assessment for each chapter. Each chapter test
or project is worth 100 points. On a test, all work must be shown or no credit will be given for the
answer (NWNC means No Work, No Credit).

Make-up Work
Upon returning from an EXCUSED absence, the student should consult the assignment board to
get the missed assignment(s). The assignment board is located at the back of the room on the
bookshelves. If the assignment is a worksheet, it will be located in the file box below the
assignment board.
Students will have three (3) days to make up any missed work due to an EXCUSED absence.
ALL WORK MUST BE SHOWN AND MUST BE DONE IN PENCIL to receive credit.
Make-up work must include the page number and date the work was ASSIGNED,
not the date it is submitted.
Tests can only be made up due to an EXCUSED absence. Tests must be made up on Monday or
Thursday after school, within a week of returning from the absence or a zero will be given for that
exam. Any test missed due to an UNEXCUSED absence will result in a zero.
GRADES WILL BE POSTED TO PARENTLINK EACH FRIDAY.
Participation:
Each student begins every period with five (5) participation points. All daily participation points
will be deducted for absences (excused or unexcused), tardies, being unprepared, or being off-task.
Tardies:
A tardy sheet is located at the front of the room on the blackboard tray. Any student who arrives
after the bell must sign the tardy sheet (this is the student’s protection against being marked
absent). In addition, if this is the first tardy in the 9-week period, the student must fill out a
Centennial High tardy form and place it on the overhead. Excessive tardiness will affect the
student’s participation grade as well as result in the following disciplinary actions:
Tardy 1
Verbal warning
Tardy 2
Phone call to parent/guardian
Tardy 3
Counselor’s referral
Tardy 4
Detention at 6:30 a.m. the following day
Tardy 5 and 5+ Dean’s referral
Attendance
It is the policy of Centennial High School and in accordance with Clark County School District
Regulation 5113 that any student who has more than six (6) unapproved absences in any class per
semester will not earn credit for that class for that semester.
CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS:

The classroom behavioral goal is to provide an environment conducive to learning through mutual
respect. Students in this class are expected to follow the guidelines as outline in the Student
Handbook and to follow all CCSD policies.
Profanity, slurs and insults will not be tolerated
Students will have an assigned seat and be expected to remain there until dismissed by the teacher.
CANDY, GUM, FOOD, and DRINK are not permitted in the classroom.
Failure to adhere to the above rules will result in disciplinary actions which may consist of:
