Geometry Vocabulary Angle Pair Relationships Supplementary Angles •Two angles of have a sum of 180 degrees. Complementary Angles •Two angles have a sum of 90 degrees. Vertical Angles •Congruent angles that are opposite of each other. Perpendicular Lines •Lines that intersect at right angles. Parallel Lines •Two lines in a plane that never intersect. Transversal •A line that intersects two or more lines. Corresponding Angles •When two lines are crossed by a transversal, the angles in matching corners are congruent and corresponding. Alternate •Angles that are on opposite sides of the transversal. Interior •Refers to the angles in between (or INSIDE) the two parallel lines. Exterior •Refers to the angles OUTSIDE of the two parallel lines. Alternate Interior Angles •When two parallel lines are crossed by a transversal: the pairs of congruent angles on OPPOSITE sides of the transversal but INSIDE the two lines are AIA. Alternate Exterior Angles •When two parallel lines are crossed by a transversal: the pairs of congruent angles on OPPOSITE sides of the transversal but OUTSIDE the two lines are AEA. Same Side Interior Angles •When two parallel lines are crossed by a transversal: the pairs of angles on the same side of the transversal but INSIDE the two lines are SSIA. SSIA have a sum of 180 degrees. Same Side Exterior Angles •When two parallel lines are crossed by a transversal: the pairs of angles on the same side of the transversal but OUTSIDE the two lines are SSEA. SSEA have a sum of 180 degrees.
