World History Course Syllabus Mrs. Eriksen 2009 - 2010 Course Textbook: World History: Modern Times (Glencoe, 2005) Course Goals: This course will provide instruction on the history of the world from 1750 AD to the present. This course will also show the correlation from history to other curriculum areas, such as the Sciences and Social Sciences. Competencies 1. Explain how geography, economics, and politics have influenced the historical development of various nations from 1750 to present. 2. Describe the impact of science and technology on the historical development of the world since 1750. 3. Describe the relationships of people, places, and environments through the 19th and 20th centuries. 4. Demonstrate the ability to apply and interpret social studies tools (e.g. timelines, maps, globes, graphs, charts, technology, primary documents, political cartoons, etc.) 5. Explain how civic responsibilities are important to Americans as citizens of a global community.
