Approved Codes
The interface components
of REG - X, components of
the voltage regulator system REGSys, are representing the tap changer
position of the transformer
by a commonly used BCDcode and are used depending upon the task to match
the BCD - input of a
• voltage regulator
• digital display
• remote control system
The interface components REG - X can be
connected to the following rails:
• Row of contacts with 1 to n switches
(For each tap position only the corresponding switch is closed. The realization is performed by a matrix of diodes).
• Row of contacts with m to n switches
(For each tap position a defined combination of switches is closed).
• Row of resistances
(Resistance value is proportional to the
tap changer position. Measuring circuit:
3- or 4- wire circuit; matching range
5 Ω to 50 Ω or as indicared).
• Direct current in mA
(mA value is proportional to the tap
changer position)
• BCD
(Binary coded decimal code)
If the tap changer sends already coded
signals the following codes are approved:
• Binary-Code
• BCD-Code
• Gray-Code
• AWZ-Code (Albis-Werke-Zürich)
Output Signals
Depending upon the version the interface
components REG - X are equipped with
one or two outputs.
• Output 1:
BCD-Code for regulator RE G- D
• Output 2:
BCD-Code for remote digital display

Display / Range
For the display of a tap changer position
the assignment of the zero-position to
any tap changer position can be selected.
• Display unipolar without sign
• Display bipolar with sign
Resistance 0,5 ... 50 Ω / tap position
1 to 32 (–15...0...15)

In respect to the specification for mounting, electric safety, protection and climatic
environment the following designs are

The equipment complies with the specifications of electromagnetic radiation and
electromagnetic stability according to the
test conditions EN 55011: 1991;
EN 50082-1: 1995; EN 50082-2: 1995
The interface components can be powered either via a built in AC or DC power
supply with galvanic isolation or with an
external AC or DC voltage.
