2017
season
“...to create unique theatrical experiences through
the preservation of classic melodrama,
the presentation of original and traditional works,
and the education of our youth...”
The Butte Theater is a 501(c)(3) public nonprofit corporation that
supports community and professional events at the historic Butte Theater
in Cripple Creek, CO. In support of our mission, The Butte Theater
endeavors to enrich the lives of residents and visitors to the area through
three main programs:
Ÿ Professional Theater – Bringing the highest quality of
entertainment and classic melodrama to Cripple Creek,
produced by Thin Air Theatre Co.
Ÿ Community Theater and Local Events – Involving our
community in all aspects of theater production and presentation.
Ÿ Theatre Education – Fostering arts education and appreciation in our youth.
With the help of donations from supporters such as you, we will continue
to see improvements in the quality of life here in Teller County, tourism
to the district, and the overall health of the arts in Cripple Creek.
Theatre
Education
Our theater education program focuses on enhancing the experience of youth in our
community, through exposure and participation in the performing arts.
Ÿ Annual Christmas show - educational and performance opportunities
alongside seasoned professionals from across the country. This is one of
our most popular and visible programs.
Ÿ Intensive theatre workshops - educational and performance opportunities
across a variety of subjects and theatrical styles.
Ÿ Tickets for Kids – Allowing all students of CCV schools to see professional
theater free of cost. In 2017, we expect to offer free admission to 400+
students from Teller County.
Looking to the future, we expect participation to greatly increase, as we reach out
toward other under-served rural communities in Teller County.
Community
The Butte is proud to create an environment of inclusiveness and selfexpression. The spring community production and the annual Christmas show
give talented local residents the opportunity to perform alongside seasoned
professional actors.
The Butte is committed to filling the theater space year-round to provide a
venue for live music, movie screenings, special events, and off-season
Welcome
productions.
It ispage
our goal to greatly expand these activities to enhance
opportunities for area residents and tourists as well.
