THE USE OF INTERACTIVE TECHNIQUES IN PSHE (Secondary)
CONTENT
This course provides teachers and school nurses with a range of simple to use
techniques that can be used to deliver PSHE. The techniques are all designed to
maximise the amount of interaction that pupils have in PSHE lessons. The main
benefits of these techniques are that they can be used to look at any issue
including sex and relationships, drug education or bullying.
The techniques offer a fresh way to engage young people and discuss sensitive
issues in an open and honest environment.
The techniques covered have been developed by Loud Mouth Educational
Theatre, a Birmingham based organisation that specialises in young people’s
issues. These techniques have been used with groups of young people across
the UK and Europe to address PSHE in a safe and accessible manner. The
techniques are classroom based and do not require any drama skills (so don’t
worry there’s no acting involved!). What they do offer is a range of simple to use
approaches that can be used immediately on returning to school.
This courses can be adapted for primary school teachers, youth workers or
health and social care workers. All the techniques are flexible and can be
used by any adults who work with young people on health and social
issues.
