Technical Data Sheet Integrated Traction System – SPIRC-01 Locomotive India The SPIRC-01 is a high power traction drive for locomotives, 2.5MW per drive. The SPIRC-01 cubicle is built around the water cooled IGBT power module 3W45-600, resulting in a very high power to volume ratio. The SPIRC-01 consists of three converters: • 2 line converters to convert AC input to a stable DC-link voltage; • 3x inverter to converts DC-link voltage to 3 phase AC for 3 850kW traction motors, independent motor control; • 1x soft-crow bar down chopper to control and protect the DC-link against overvoltage’s. 2x line inverter 1x soft crow bar 3x inverter Summary. The three converters inside the SPIRC-01 are all using the same power module; a configuration connector makes the module function specific. One power module consists of 2 phase legs. The SPIRC-01 cubicle comprises of 9 power modules (18 phaselegs). All Strukton traction systems are short-circuit proof and provide protection against over current, overvoltage, earth fault and over temperature.
