Oncology Informatics and Bio-Computing System (OIBS)
According to World Health Organization (WHO), breast cancer is the top cancer in women both in the developed and the developing world.
Increased life expectancy, urbanization and adoption of western lifestyles trigger the occurrence of breast cancer in the developing world. Most
cancer events are diagnosed in the late phases of the illness and so, Oncology informatics and Bio-computing in order to improve breast cancer
treatment efficacy and survival is very crucial.
In this project, I intended to contribute to diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. An analysis on breast cancer diagnoses for the patients is
collected. For the purpose, first of all, data about the patients whose cancers’ have already been diagnosed is gathered and it is used to predict
whether the patients is in trouble of breast cancer recurring after. Predictions are realized through an algorithm which proved to be most effective
as compared to other after testing their accuracies.
Classification is a task that is often encountered in everyday life. A classification process involves assigning objects into predefined groups or
classes based on a number of observed attributes related to those objects. The use of data mining approaches and machine learning has
revolutionized the process of classification breast cancer data set.
The scope of this project is: to classify the data set of breast cancer in two grouping cancerous (malignant) and other not a cancerous (benign)
and Predict recurrence of breast cancer to influence the treatment method.
