Unit Lesson Plans Name: Mohan Singh Established Goals Essential Questions Subject: CP Chemistry - 1 Date: Aug. 29 – sept.2, 2016 Unit: classification matter, Content: Unit-2 Classification of matter Vocabulary words – solid, liquid, gas, plasma, pressure, volume Temperature, IMF, Atom, lightening, neon, aurosas, MP, BP, heating curve, Kinetic energy -Temperature 1 2 3 4 5 What is an atom? What are the different states of matter? How does the speed of particles affect the state of matter of a substance? What is Kinetic Theory of matter? How does changes in energy affects the particles in matter? Formative Assessment: oral questions, tests, quizzes, labs, demonstrations of proper procedures Opening: Students Introduction to matter (solids, liquids, & gases) Atom, element (metals, nonmetals and metalloids), compound, Day 1 Work Period: Student will write the definitions of vocabulary words w/ examples Closing: Students will compare and contrast states of matter, metal and nonmetals Element Vs compounds (Venn diagram) Opening: Introduction to Classification of matter (pure substance and mixtures) Day 2 Work Period: The students will write vocabulary words will practice to practice to differentiate pure substance and mixtures Closing: Teacher I will oral question about pure and impure matter as substance and mixture. I will make demo of matter and properties of metals and nonmetals I will show power point to introduce matter I will provide Venn diagram to compare and contrast three states of matter, metals, & nonmetals, Elements VS compounds I will ask examples of pure substance and mixture I will help each student individually to classify matter. Resources & Technology: web page Instructional Strategies: lecture and active participation, demo Differentiation Plan: Content Process Peer tutoring/ student will study buddy help each If needed and other to group work. coordinate their work. Product Home Work: Work sheet (HW- 2) Due on Friday Assessment: Review with oral questions Resources & Technology: Text book/ power point Instructional Strategies: lecture and demo. Differentiation Plan: Content Process Peer tutoring/ study buddy in groups Assessment: Flow diagram Product Compare and contras Between pure and impure matter (Flow diagram) I will provide them flow chart format and Venn diagram. Resources & Technology: Text/ internet Opening: Vocabulary words Physical & chemical properties/ changes Day 3 Work Period: The students will make practice to differentiate physical and chemical properties/changes I will provide demo to indicate chemical changes to differentiate physical and chemical properties and changes I will help needy students Go over their conclusions about physical and chemical properties and changes Instructional Strategies: lecture/demo/ google Differentiation Plan: Content Process Peer tutoring/ study buddy If needed Product Oral Questions Resources & Technology: Text Opening: Review / students will take a quiz as assessment. Chemical changes, law of conservation of mass and atoms during chemical changes 4 Day Work Period: The students will read Dalton’s atomic theory to understand law of conservation of mass I will give introduce modern atomic theory ( I will introduce subatomic particles Closing: Students will compare and contrast Dalton’s atomic theory and Modern atomic theory Introduce nuclear reactions Law of conservation of mass and energy Opening: Review physical Vs chemical changes Day 5 I will make demo to make the understanding law of conservation of mass. Work Period: Students will make activity to differentiate physical vs chemical changes with observations and explainations- Lab Instructional Strategies: lecture and google Differentiation Plan: Content Process Peer tutoring/ study buddy If needed Product Assessment : Quiz Classification of matter Resources & Technology: Oral questions I will facilitate different materials to perform changes Instructional Strategies Differentiation Plan: Content Process Peer tutoring/ study buddy If needed. Product Closing: Students will clean up their work stations I will collect their handouts Assesstment - lab Unit Lesson Plans Name: Mohan Singh Established Goals Subject: CP Chemistry - 2 Date: Aug. 29 – sept.2, 2016 Unit: classification matter, Content: 6 Essential Questions Formative Assessment: oral questions, tests, quizzes, labs, demonstrations of proper procedures Opening: Students Introduction to matter (solids, liquids, & gases) Atom, element (metals, nonmetals and metalloids), compound, Day 1 Work Period: Student will write the definitions of vocabulary words w/ examples Closing: Students will compare and contrast states of matter, metal and nonmetals Element Vs compounds (Venn diagram) Opening: Introduction to Classification of matter (pure substance and mixtures) Day 2 Work Period: The students will write vocabulary words will practice to practice to differentiate pure substance and mixtures Teacher I will oral question about pure and impure matter as substance and mixture.
