It takes about 2-6 hours after a meal for the
stomach to empty. The stomach stores, mixes,
and dissolves digestion of food. It regulates
emptying of dissolved food into the small
intestines.

intestines. The enzymes digest the
carbohydrates, fats, proteins, and nucleic acids
into absorbable parts. Most importantly, I
secrete bicarbonate, which neutralizes the acid
as the chyme moves into the small intestine.
Do: Pretend to pour the antacid solution onto
the food pieces.

prepares fats for digestion and absorption.

villi is a blood and lymph vessel. The blood
vessels absorb the glucose and amino acids,

vessels transport the nutrients all over the body.

the boxes because they should remain reusable.) Remove the baggies of candy. Do not
eat the candy!
