CREAtION 2016
AtOmIc EquEstRiAN cONFERENCE
SYNOPSIS
An Illustrious equestrian circus family from the deepest reaches
of Eastern Siberia have come to the welcoming arms of Europe
to join us.
Even If the mishaps of the trip weren’t already enough, the family
has arrived safe and sound to share with us all their strange customs, their acrobatic acts and their totally weird animals.
A strange “otherness” that reminds us all of the need to recognise
and embrace the differences in others.

The art of burlesque
Les Goulus company is a french comedians troupe.
Our work is mainly based on the actor's performance and takes its roots on burlesque play more
particularly. It is a game of intentions labeled with
bodily commitment that we put at the service of
our shows.
This game offers to see and touch the heart by laughter, a game that
allows us to reach a wide range of audiences in the hexagonal and international public space, sometimes with text, sometimes without.
From this base, we wanted that TchernOcircuS – Atomic equestrian
cabaret , be a mix of expertise :
The art of puppetry
Since a long time, horses are represented in our plays. Fifteen horses
make up our team. They served in various shows. Since the first horse
created twenty years ago to the most recent created this year, we explored different fasteners and handling system.
To go further in the design and manipulation (puppet as extension of the
body), two puppeteers were invited to think about making our horses
irradiated. The challenge is to give life to the lightest possible horses,
malleable, misshapen but balanced, that give the impression of a merger
between man and animal, really not knowing in the end who is the rider
or where is the horse…
Supervised by our costume designer, the confection of the horses took
place simultaneously to the costumes - crucial elements in the visual
composition of our shows. Indeed, they are a powerful strength for the
suggested imagination.
The art of feat
In order to respect the tradition of equestrian circus, we wanted to work
with an acrobat, complementing the circus skills already present in the
team so that expertises are combined to propose a universe both funny
and touching.

Jean-Luc Prévost
Actor, writer and director since 1979 his expertise stems through different experiences in theatre, a palette ranging from clown to cabaret
theatre. In 1994 he founded "Les Obsessionels" which he left in 2000
to create "Les Goulus", a company with which he’ll end up travelling to
many countries in Europe and beyond. Theatre adventurer, he has greatly
developed street/promenade theatre and has always created shows with
contrasting worlds often in the spirit of off-the-wall humour. He is at
ease playing white clown as he is with Auguste styles.
Olivier Rimaud
Faithful companion to the company, he’s worked with Jean-Luc Prévost
since 1987. He participates in all creative new works, and plays in almost
all of "Les Goulus" performances.
Julien Blandino
Trained in circus arts, he joined the company in 2006 on the show The
Horse Screamerer then joined The Horsemen and Molière In All Its Shapes
& Sizes. He created within the company Kilomètres en kilomètres with
Yang Mamath, an acrobatic show in interaction with its audience.
Galatée Auzanneau
Trained in Netherlands, she’s a joyful acrobat who sings and draws. She
is a member of the «Trio Satchok» with whom she plays urban acrobatic
show through Europe. In 2014, she have a crush on Jean-Luc and her
sidekicks. It is the first project that she will make with them.
Laetitia Lafforgue
She joined "Les Goulus" in 2003 and now provides co-directorship
alongside Jean-luc Prevost. She acts in several shows with the company (MDR!, Molière In All Its Shapes & Sizes, The Super Chicks, The
Horsemen). She’s in charge of keeping an objective look and providing
constructive and supportive criticism for the creation of new works. She’s
equally a member of "ktha company".
Anne Carteau
Graduated in Costume Design from the Lycée Paul Poiret, she was first
trained at the Boulle school in the art of tapestry decoration. She’s continuing her training notably this winter in welding techniques. She’s been
member of the Goulus team since 2012.
Les Goulus now part of the residents of the Villa Mais d’ici cross paths
with other residents where connections are made and happen quite naturally.
Thus we have complemented the design team with:
Chloé Bucas
Costume designer, puppeteer, trumpeter, Chloe has more than one trick
up her sleeve! She regularly works with "Les Grandes Personnes", "Les
Petits Zefs" and even "Les Lapins Stars".
Yoann Cottet
A Puppeteer who fuses aesthetics with mechanical precision and is naturally attracted to metalwork, including wire sculpting with piano wire
and ornamental smith work with sheets of steel, copper and brass. Yoann
works regularly with "Les Grandes Personnes" and created the company
"Écarquillée".

17/06/2015 l’Est républicain - Lunéville: Les Goulus return to the
castle for the equestrian events
They’ve become the darlings of the audience, «the» mascot for the Rencontres Équestres regularly returning with their strange horses and their
completely off-the-wall humour. Les Goulus are back at the castle with
a new show they’ll be creating in Lunéville before hitting the road as
they did with The Horsemen – which they presented not only here but
in 29 countries including Australia, Iran and South Korea no less.
Around Jean-Luc Prévost – the Artistic Director of the troupe – there
are four others helping to refine this new work as part of a residency
they started last week. Time for Julien Blandino, Patrick Geslin, Yang
Mamath and Olivier Rimaud to don their horse’s legs and slip into huge
Dadaesque equine heads.
For fifteen years Les Goulus have been touring their shows from town to
town and the Lunévillians will remember The Horse Screamerer as well
which was also presented on the occasion of the Rencontres Équestres.
However horses are not the only source of inspiration for these actors
based in Aubervilliers whose company’s name gives homage to the infamous Goulue transcended by Toulouse Lautrec.
If they’ve returned again this year to Lunéville it is because Jean-Luc
Prévost and his troupe love the spirit of a festival that mixes horses and
theatre. A festival they promote during their tours, ensures the Artistic
Director.
So what are they going to tell, to show us this weekend in the gardens
of the castle? The new work is entitled TchernOcircuS, it speaks of
paradise, of extraordinary creatures half-human half-horse and an ethnologist at once captivated by the aesthetics of these hybrid beings and
amazed by their prowess and their humour.
Jean-Luc Prévost will say no more except that TchernOcircuS, will
blend the genres between poetry and burlesque. We’ll know more on
Saturday and Sunday at the passage’s alley in the castle’s park, where
Les Goulus will give their presentation at 2pm, 4pm and 6pm.

The company defends an interactive theatre with its audience and
questions the traditional role of the actor by giving him the capacity
to intervene anywhere in any place through engaging contemporary
writing.
"Les Goulus" have many shows in their repertoire: The Cupids, The Tall
Dwarves, The Spiders, The Krishnous, The Horsemen and more recently
Molière In All Its Shapes & Sizes, all as Promenade or Street Theatre
work. MDR!, The Horse Screamerer, The Battle of The Bands (co-created
with the band "SNOB"), Blancass ou p’tit café ? and Pinard et philo de
comptoir as staged shows. Not forgetting Yellow Hand in The City a
one-off phenomenon, The Super Chicks created in 2012, The Last Race
and Tomorrow I’m playing at the Olympia created in 2013 and Kartoons
and TchernOcircuS - Atomic equestrian cabaret created in 2016.
The company also enjoys recognition abroad, allowing them to
continuously evolve their shows through an interaction with varied
audiences, in different languages, while always questioning, inventing
and sometimes defending their relationship with public spaces.
The company is :
Supported by Region Ile-de-France
Beneficiary of Artistic and Cultural Permanence in Ile-de-France
Member of the National Federation of Street Arts
Recognised as a Solidarity Entreprise
