AP Psychology: Quarter 2 Project Overview You are to condition yourself, a pet, or a willing participant. You may use classical conditioning, operant conditioning, or a combination of both. Due Dates Project Approval Form: Friday, October 31 Lab Report, Research Journal, and extra credit video: Friday, November 21 Lab Report You will submit a typed paper that describes your attempt at conditioning. It should include the following: Intro o o definitions of learning, classical conditioning, and operant conditioning What do classical conditioning and operant conditioning have in common? What makes them different? Which did you use? o summary of your conditioning project If you used classical conditioning: o What were the US, UR, CS, and CR in your project? o How did contingency play into the conditioning of your subject? o Why was time important in pairing the US and CS? o How did you test extinction, stimulus generalization, and spontaneous recovery in your subject? If you used operant conditioning: o What was the baseline behavior? What was the target behavior? (Be very specific!) o Did you use reinforcement, punishment, or both? Positive or negative? o What types of reinforcers/punishments were used and why? o Which reinforcement schedule did you use and why? o How did you use shaping? Research Journal Keep a log of your attempts at conditioning your subject. Each entry in the log should include: date & time description of subject’s response Extra Credit You may optionally turn in a video of the successful conditioning for 10 points of extra credit. The video must be playable in class to receive credit. The Most Important Rule of All If you are going to condition another person, you must have their permission before you begin, and they must sign your Project Approval Form. Every aspect of this project must comply with APA ethical guidelines. Failure to do so will result in no credit.
