Introduction
In this book I will give you everything you need to help you get the most from your Friends and
Lovers Astrology Reading. While there are many astrologers that claim to tell you how you and
your partner will ‘get along’, it’s important to
understand the several methods that can be used to
determine this, and how each is used. You will find that
Friends & Lovers is great for providing you with an
astrological synastry (compatibility comparison) for
both of you. This is known as a synastry reading.

The Astrological Significance of Relationships and Compatibility?
While it is important to look at the
compatibility in each chart, it’s
important to understand why it is
working that way for both of you. This
all comes down to the positions of your
planets and the aspects they make with
each other. The planets in astrological
terms should always be considered as
indicator that point a light to what is
possible, rather than considering them
as beaming energy back to us that
affects us. Keep that in mind as you
look at each planet and how it may
affect you, from a personal standpoint
as well as in your relationships.
Astrology can tell you whether two
people are mentally, emotionally or
sexually compatible and how well they
work as partners in business, love or
friendships.
Every natal, or birth astrology chart (including compatibility readings such as Friends and
Lovers) will focus on the planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus,
Pluto, Neptune), the house positions and the angles that those planets make with each other, and
other aspects of your chart.
While this is a great start, it’s really only the basics of what you can discover from a detailed
Astrology synastry chart such as Friends & Lovers. To find out even more, we need to look to
the details of the houses, planets and how they tie in with your chart, and the chart of your

Before we have a closer look at the deeper astrological signs, houses and angles, let’s get a better
idea of how astrology can affect your life. Let’s start with a look at the elements, qualities and
energies of each sign. Later you will learn to put these together to get a perfect ‘picture’ of
someone before you even meet them (or without meeting them ever).
Elements, Qualities and Energies
Let’s start with what I consider to be the most important of these three, the elements (fire, earth,
air and water). These can be thought of as temperamental tendencies in people depending on
which sign a planet is placed, or the total quantity of elements in one person’s chart. Every
astrological property that exists and everything that ever appears is made up of these elements.
These are sometimes referred to as the ‘triplicities’ because there are 3 signs that share the same
element, use the chart below to understand the elemental makeup of the person. *note: the
numbers in the chart are from numerology, I will discuss that a little later.

Description
Fire is the most energetic, assertive, aggressive and
idealistic. They may be egotistical, courageous and
sometimes true visionaries. It indicates a sign that
is full of passion, energy (sometimes nervousness)
and very straight forward. They are true overachievers in many respects. If they are not the first
to succeed, they will make sure that they push the
envelope to get there fast. The fire element is
known as the first element; numerologically it is
the number 1.
The water element signs are sensitive, intuitive, in
touch with their feelings and usually romantic.
Those with many water planets in their chart will
be very in tune with their feelings and they may
cry often. Cancer symbolizes a lake, Scorpio
symbolizes a river and Pisces is symbolic of the
ocean. The water element is known as the fourth
element; numerologically it is the number 2.
The air signs represent strong social abilities as
well as thought (ideas, communication, and
intellectual ability). Those with a great number of
air signs are known to spend a lot of time on the
mental plane; they may be known as ‘airy’ or even
‘spaced out’. The air element is known as the third
element, numerologically it is number 3.
Earth signs are very practical, dependable and
skilled at their job. They are known for managing
and organizing large physical and financial
systems. The earth element is known as the second
element, numerologically it is number 4.

The second most important thing to consider is the Qualities of the sign/planet. This can be
thought of as the natural way that a season progresses. Each season starts out with great force
(cardinal), followed by a period of stability (fixed) and finally ending in a period of transition
(mutable). These 3 qualities are cardinal, fixed, and mutable. Since there are four signs having
each quality (4 of each), these qualities are sometimes referred to as the quadruplicities (a big
word that means 4 of each). Refer to table 2 below for details of each quality.

Cardinal signs are the first of each season.
They represent the forceful beginning to
the season. These signs have the qualities
of independence, initiating, enterprising
and forceful. They may also be known as
impatient if others are too slow. Keep in
mind that though they are often very good
at starting things, they often lose interest
and become bored and move on to
something else rather than see things
through to completion (leave that part to
the fixed signs). A heavy balance of
cardinal planets or signs in your chart will
indicate that you operate most frequently
like this (a fast starter that bores easily and
likes to move on to new things – before
finishing what they started). The cardinal
quality is known as the first quality;
numerologically it is the number 1.
Fixed signs represent the fixed period in
the middle of a season. These signs have
the qualities of practicality, persistence,
reliability, determination and consistency.
They are known for having continued
strength and they may be stubborn at times.
These signs represent the qualities needed
to preserve or maintain something that has
been started. They often take over and just
plain ‘get things done’. A heavy balance of
fixed planets or signs in your chart will
indicate that you operate most frequently as
(a persistent and reliable person ready and
determined to see things through). The
fixed quality is known as the second
quality; numerologically it is the number 4.
Mutable signs represent the time of
transition at the end of a season. These

signs have the qualities of change,
adaptation, flexibility and are known as fast
learners that are able to view problems
from a larger perspective as well as in
detail. This helps them to change to any
required position that will help them find a
solution. They may be too quick to change
and lack perseverance because of their
adaptability and desire to change. A heavy
balance of mutable planets or signs in your
chart will indicate that you operate most
frequently as (a flexible and adaptable
person who can always bring a fresh
perspective). The mutable quality is known
as the third quality; numerologically it is
the numbers 2 and 3.

Now that you have looked at the basic elements, qualities and energies that make up
compatibility take a quick break and have some fun. I like to call this fun because it cannot be
relied on for true compatibility, but it is often fun to have a look at a basic sun sign compatibility
chart. The charts below will layout the compatibility potential for you with every other sign.
Keep in mind, this is not completely reliable, and also, because we are dealing with sun signs, it
is only about 1/10th of what should be considered when looking for a compatible mate, but it can
be fun and entertaining to look yourself and your friends and other partners in the list below
(after you have done that, see the corresponding moon compatibility chart in the following
section).

Find your sun sign in the chart above along the left side of the chart, and then look over to the
right to find the sign of your partner. Look up the rating that you find in the chart key (below the
chart) to get an idea of the rating of this relationship.
For details on your emotional/feeling compatibility look up your moon signs in the chart. That
chart includes a similar compatibility matching but is based on your moon signs. This will give
you a true look at how compatible you are from a feeling standpoint. Again, use this chart as a
source of entertainment. It is only about 15% of your overall compatibility. For more details on

Astrological Houses, Planets and Angles
Another important thing to consider when
looking at your astrological chart overlaid
you’re your partner’s is to notice the
astrological houses that a planet is
appearing in (for one of you). The houses
that a planet is appearing in usually shows
up in the ‘How You Approach
Relationships’ section for either you, or
your partner individually. The house that it
occurs in has a direct affect on the
environment of the relationship issue, in
other words, the relationship issue being
discussed will be affecting you in one of the
twelve houses indicating that it may affect
you in one way, or another and reflect on
how you deal with relationships. It may have an effect on how you communicate, what type of
love affairs or sexuality you enjoy.
Astrological House Importance
Each house of the twelve indicates a specific energy related to the planet or alignment that is
taking place. You will want to find out which house, and then lookup the astrological sign that

rules that house. This is required so that you can determine if the alignment (or planet) is
occurring in a house that the planet is already ruling, works well in, or if this house is a bad
location for the planet (or object) in transit. Use the chart below to locate the planet to find the
house and sign that it is associated with. If the planet interpretation that appears is in the same
house as its own ‘Ruling Planet’ house that is indicated below then expect the effect to be even
stronger (also note the basic properties of each house, next to the house number below, for the

Astrological Houses and Their Meanings
Each astrological house has a specific meaning. It is important to look at the planet and the house
it is normally associated with (the ruling planet) as indicated in the previous chart, but also to
look at the house in which the alignment or planetary position is taking place. This way you can
get a better interpretation of the way in which your life will be affected most, by the house that it
is occurring in. If the planet’s houses (from the ruling planet above) match the house (or sign
indicated above) that the planet, or alignment is taking place in you can expect even more energy
in that area of your life. The vibration will be heightened and you may experience a nervousness
as you feel this energy come about. Use the chart below to locate the house in which the planet
or alignment is taking place (as it appears in your Friends and Lovers reading) for more on the
meaning of the planet, or alignment and how it will affect you:

Communication and how you handle it between you and your
partner are of the highest importance. One of you may be overly
curious, or over reach boundaries with the other.
Family and how you define it, or how your partner defines it is in
focus with this alignment. One of you may become a hermit, and
lack outside contact, if you do not get your family issues aligned
with each other.
The understanding of personal pleasure (for either you or your
partner) has the highest value for you in this area of the
relationship. One of you may be unable to resist a desire to be
spontaneous and overly indulgent.
Someone is spending a lot of time thinking about health in this
relationship. You or your partner work to develop their physical
health to its highest potential. One of you may still feel lacking, or
that they are working too hard.
One of you find that your partnership is the most important thing,
especially regarding the planet (or alignment that is taking place) in
this partnership. You or your partner may find your sense of self
dissolves into the other person.
Sexual expression and endings come to the forefront in the place
where this alignment is taking place. One of you may be selfabsorbed and deeply into their own feelings to honor the other.
Self-denial and even depression may arise.
Teaching, values truth and morality are the keys to this alignment
or planetary position. Education becomes even more exciting, but
be careful to not get stuck in a boring routine.
Self-empowering confidence and career affect one of you based on
where this alignment or planet appears in your reading. Carefully
watch your personal integrity, or that of your partner to avoid one
of you becoming isolated.
The deeper meaning of friendships come to the forefront, you’re
your options open. One of you may feel that they are doing their
best when they are alone and on a path of your own choosing.
One of you has some work to do with spirituality, mysticism and
accepting your true intuitive nature. One of you may love living in a
dream, or a fantasy that is of their own making.

Let’s take a look at details for each planet and how it will affect your reading as it appears in
your friends and lovers reading. Look at the chart below to find the planet that is involved, and
its possible meaning. *Note: you want to look up the first planet listed in your Friends and
Lovers chart, for example if you see: Sun Sextile Moon (indicating that the Sun is forming a 60
degree, or sextile angle with the Moon), you would look up the Sun for the vibration, and then

look up Moon for the environment (or area) that the vibration would play itself out (such as
feelings: the Moon, indicating feelings in the example above).

Transit Meaning
The Sun indicates that your personal ego and willpower are affected by this
alignment. Independence and confidence are most important when the Sun is part
of your alignment. Pay attention to the other planet, or sign that is part of this
alignment and know that personal strength will have a definite affect on how it
appears, and effects your relationship (for either you, or your partner depending on
which section of the reading it appears in.
The Moon is a powerful feminine initiator. Intuition and emotions will always be
affected when the Moon is being transited or when it is a full moon, or new moon.
Look at how the emotions affect the other planet or astrological configuration and
know that your feelings will be most important during this time.
Communication and your intellect will have an effect on you now. You may be
urged to learn new things, or at least to learn why you are being affected by so
much at this time. Short trips and the desire to talk to others may come up often
during this alignment. It is imperative to check the astrological house that the
alignment is taking place in to get a better idea of how you will be affected.
Love and romantic commitment will hold utmost importance for you at this time.
Make sure you look at the other planet (and angle of alignment) effecting you in
the alignment to see how this will affect you.
Sexual action or personal will have hold of you at this time. Double check the
astrological house to verify what is happening at this time. If Mars is transiting the
1st house you may be over demanding, hypercritical, and a real egotist (or
nymphomaniac), while if the 7th house is involved physical aggression or anger
may arise.
Expansion and luck will come into play for you throughout this transit. You may
find that things in general (relationships, emotions, and job and career possibilities)
are magnified during this time. Huge opportunity may be at hand during this time
depending on the other aspects in both of your charts.
Your personal responsibilities and self-discipline will be tested in this alignment.
Pay attention to the angle and house that is involved.
Sudden change can be expected at this time. The change may be positive or
negative but either way it’s going to happen quickly and without any warning. The
house of the alignment can help you pinpoint the environment for change.
The world of dreams and intuitive illusion will affect you now. Your judgment
may be affected at this time so pay extra careful attention. A dream-like state may
fall over you or your partner. Keep tabs on your intuition and double check the
angles and the other planet, or house when looking up this alignment.
Regeneration, power and transformation are the keywords for this alignment. Pay
attention to the angles and especially the astrological house and other planet that
may be part of this alignment. A great opportunity lies at hand, though this change
may be slow to happen it will definitely occur and the resulting transformation
may change the entire way that you view life: your previous life, and your current
life. A great healing may take place as part of the change for you, or your partner.

Midheaven
Your outer personality (and your career), as seen by others, is symbolized by the
Midheaven in an alignment. Think of it as how others see you publicly, as your
role in society. It is the view that others get when they first meet you, or when
they see you from afar, as in a social situation, rather than in a personal, or close
relationship. It can also indicate the different roles that you (or your partner) play
in society. The Midheaven is the public face that you wear, and that others see in
you. It often represents your professional or career status.

Angles and Their Meaning
Let’s take a look at details for each angle (that may appear in an alignment) and how it will
affect your reading as it appears in your friends and lovers reading. Look at the chart below to
find the angle that appears, and its possible meaning. *Note: you want to look up the first planet
listed in your Friends and Lovers
Astrological angles are also very important when it comes to your alignments. The angles that
the planet is at (and the alignment with the object that is being formed) will identify how this
alignment will express itself. Each angle is seen as either a good (benefic) or bad (malefic) with
subtle differences in each that you can find in the chart below.
Look up the angle for the alignment that appears in your reading. The alignment may affect you,
your partner, or both of you depending on the section of the report that it appears in. Your
aligned planet or object that is forming the angle in the chart below may help you to determine
how this particular alignment will affect you. This table is in order of strength to how you much
the energy will be felt. Also take note if the angle is positive, or negative:

Conjunction
Meaning
The conjunction creates a situation where the energy is focused
or concentrated on these two objects, the interactions between
them will be more intense and may create nervousness in you.
The conjunction may be a positive or negative vibration. If the
planets fall in ruling signs, or in the same sign then the
alignment (energy) is heightened. If they fall in adjacent signs
(next to each other), then the alignment is weakened.
This happens when the two transiting
objects are in the same space, within 15
degrees or so either way, they are
considered conjunct
Opposition
This is the most powerful of all aspects, and it should be
considered to have a very strong effect on you.
Oppositions in general will bring things out into the open
regarding these two objects. This angle may create conflict or
tension, or it may show intense attraction depending on the
objects that are involved.

The opposition is negative in its effect. This is a very powerful
alignment aspect and may indicate emotional problems when
working with others.
This is a strong aspect of all alignment aspects, and it should be
considered to have a strong effect on you.
An opposition is when two or more
objects oppose one another in the chart
(they are opposite of each other) within
10-15 degrees.
Square
You must find the facts that will help you understand. You may
be overly curious, or over-reach boundaries with your desire to
know more.
The square is negative in effect. It symbolizes a strong tension,
or difficulty between two objects. A positive effect can be
enforced if the two objects can be harmonized.
The square occurs when two or more
objects are 90 degrees apart, within 7
degrees. As the aspect moves closer to
true 90 degrees it becomes stronger.
This is a strong aspect of all alignment aspects, and it should be
considered to have a strong effect on you.
Trine
You are helped along by an unseen hand. You may turn within
and become introspective and intuitive which provides you with
a comfort and ease in handling things. Your feelings affect you
deeply. You may become too introspective.
The trine is positive in effect. It symbolizes the ability for the
two objects to work well together.
The trine happens when two or more
objects are 120 degrees apart, within 7
degrees. As the aspect moves closer to
true 120 degrees it becomes stronger
Sextile
This is a strong aspect of all alignment aspects, and it should be
considered to have a strong effect on you.
You communicate openly, especially if it involves speaking,
writing, or public performance. You may choose art as your
medium, or you may desire to be spontaneous and overly
indulgent.
The sextile is positive in effect. Similar to a trine aspect, the
sextile indicates a helpful and harmonizing effect between the
two objects. Its effect is slightly less strong then a trine.
The sextile happens when two or more
objects are 60 degrees apart, within 3
degrees. As the aspect moves closer to
true 60 degrees it becomes stronger.
Semi-sextile
This is a strong aspect of all alignment aspects, and it should be
considered to have a strong effect on you.
You build up your skills in one area and you work to learn and
develop yourself to your highest potential. Even with the
additional education you may still feel lacking, or that you are
working yourself too hard.
The semi-sextile is weak to negative in effect. It indicates a slight

tension between the two objects, but not felt very strongly.
This is considered to be medium of all alignment aspects, and it
should be considered to have a medium effect on you.
The semi-sextile happens when two or
more objects are 30 degrees apart,
within 2 degrees. As the aspect moves
closer to true 30 degrees it becomes
stronger.
Quincunx (or Inconjunct)
Working with others and cooperation is the keyword. You seek
to work with others in full partnership. Love and the romance of
others, even those you are working with become important to
you. You may find your sense of self dissolves into the other
person.
The quincunx is negative in effect. It indicates a moderate to
light tension between the two objects, felt stronger than a semisextile, but still not as strongly as a square.
The quincunx happens when two or
more objects are 150 degrees (or five
signs) apart, within 3 degrees. As the
aspect moves closer to true 150 degrees
it becomes stronger.
This is considered to be medium of all alignment aspects, and it
should be considered to have a medium effect on you.

Example
Now that I have covered all the things that affect your compatibility that will appear in your
Friends and Lovers reading, let’s look at an example of how this would work by looking at one
interpretation.
If your alignment appeared as:
His Neptune in Your Seventh House
This example is indicating that his planet Neptune is in your seventh house. First let’s look at the
planet (Neptune) in Table 7. This planet reveals that a dreamy or dreamlike state will be the topic
of this alignment. We find:

The world of dreams and intuitive illusion will affect you now. Your judgment may be affected at this time so pay
extra careful attention. A dream-like state may fall over you or your partner. Keep tabs on your intuition and double
check the angles and the other planet, or house when looking up this alignment.

So, the world of dreams is going to be having an effect on you, as it is appearing in your chart
(from his chart). Now, looking up the astrological house we find that (from table 6)
From Table 6 we look up the 7th House to find:

One of you find that your partnership is the most important thing, especially regarding the planet (or alignment that
is taking place) in this partnership. You, or your partner may find your sense of self dissolves into the other person.
-------------------This indicates that in this relationship your partner (‘His’ in this example) will make you feel like
you dissolve into them, as if you have no self-power. This will likely be caused by the dreamlike
(or dreamy state) that he tends to make you feel when you are around him.
You conclude that there will be some tension between your feelings/emotions as you try to
accept the dreamlike/illusion state into your life that you feel in this relationship (especially as it
regards your partnership). It could be either you, or your partner that feels like one is giving up
more than the other. It will help you to overcome your feelings about this and the best way for
you to get to do that is to: ‘keep tabs on your intuition’ and feelings (from the Neptune meaning in
Table 7).
Another Example
