During mitosis, the cell’s DNA is copied into each of the two daughter cells. In multicellular organisms, mitosis provides new cells for growth and tissue repair. In eukaryotes, it can also be a form of asexual reproduction. This most commonly occurs in single-celled organisms, such as yeast. 2 of 6 © Boardworks Ltd 2009 Mitosis 3 of 6 © Boardworks Ltd 2009 Phases of mitosis 4 of 6 © Boardworks Ltd 2009 Cell cycle summary 5 of 6 © Boardworks Ltd 2009 Stages of the cell cycle 6 of 6 © Boardworks Ltd 2009
