Unit Goals-Digestive, Skeletal and Muscular System and The Senses Assessment
On a future assessment, you need to be able to do the following:
Digestive System:
-Given a blank diagram of the digestive system, label the following: mouth, small intestine, large intestine,
rectum, gallbladder, pancreas, liver, stomach, and esophagus.
-Given a list of digestive vocabulary words, you will need to match the word to its definition.
-You should know what the jobs of the digestive system and what the parts are
-You should know the definitions of the following words: Mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine,
large intestine, villi, gallbladder, liver, pancreas, salvia, rectum and anus, pharynx, epiglottis, salivary
glands. Also know what absorption, peristalsis, enzyme, chemical digestion, mechanical digestion,
hydrochloric acid, and pepsin are.
The Senses:
-Given a blank diagram of the human eye, label the following: cornea, lens, vitreous humor, sclera, pupil,
iris, retina, optic nerve, and aqueous humor.
-You should know these parts of the eye and what they do-Cornea, lens, rods, cones, vitreous humor,
pupil, iris, retina, sclera, optic nerve, nearsighted, farsighted and aqueous humor, blind spot, and tapetum.
-You should know some basic info about the ear-like how sound travels and the names of the three bones
in the ear (Hammer, Anvil and Stirrup).
Muscular and Skeletal System:
- Know what the jobs of the skeletal and muscular system are and what the parts do. –Define and give
examples of the following words: Vertebrae, marrow, cartilage, joint (immovable and movable), tendon,
ligament, voluntary and involuntary muscles, skeletal muscle, smooth muscle, and cardiac muscle.
