Applying a voltage to the coils produces a torque in the armature, resulting in motion. Hardware Description Stepper Motor – – – Converts electrical pulses into discrete mechanical rotational movements. Has no brushes, or contacts Stepper motor receives a rectangular pulse train and responds by rotating its shaft. Hardware Description Stepper Motor – – Pulse train is controlled by means of a Microcontroller. Requires no feed back loop and sensors in controlling a stepper motor.
