UNPREPARED FOR CLASS WARNING SYSTEM:
If a student acquires three (3) instances of being unprepared for class, a form is
sent home for a parent/guardian signature. The dates and items not brought to
class are listed. A fourth instance results in a detention. Each marking period
and after each detention, the record keeping begins anew.
GRADING:
Use the online grade book to keep up-to-date on grades. In addition, use the
assignment calendar in the classroom and on my web page to keep informed of
current and upcoming activities and assignments.
A point grading system is used. Each assessment, whether it is classwork,
homework, a quiz, an exam, a project, etc., is worth a specified number of points.
At the end of each marking period, a student’s accumulated points will be divided
by the number of total points possible.
Example: 540/600 = 90%

WEEKLY ASSIGNMENT SHEETS:
Weekly assignment sheets are distributed in homeroom at the beginning of each
week. Assignments are recorded daily. If there isn’t an assignment, what we do
in class that day will be recorded and it will be indicated that there is no
homework.
Weekly assignment sheets will be checked at the end of each week and
periodically graded. If an assignment sheet is lost, extras are available in the
classroom or one can be downloaded from my web page.
When absent, use the Make-Up Work bulletin board to copy assignments
missed.
CLASSROOM RULES:
Please refer to the 2016-2017 Hollidaysburg Area Secondary Schools
Student/Parent Handbook. A handbook assembly will take place by the second
week of school and each student will receive a copy of the handbook.
In addition, students are encouraged to earn tiger stripes by participating in the
following positive behaviors…




Be Here!
Be Safe!
Be Respectful!
Be Prepared!

before class begins, to pick up any papers needed that day. If you forget to
check your mailbox before class begins, wait for an appropriate time to retrieve
your papers. Sometimes you may have to wait until the end of class.
When returning from an absence, check your mailbox for papers passed out
while you were away. Remember you have the number of days absent plus one
to make-up your work.

A postcard bulletin board is kept of students’ travels anywhere in the state,
country, or world. Bring in a postcard of the site visited, and it will be displayed
on the bulletin board.
