Infectious Disease
Penn State Hershey Bone and Joint Institute is proud to be
a leader in the care of patients with disorders of the bones,
joints, and spine, providing innovative care to adults and
children with common to the most complex disorders.
We care for patients through a multi-disciplinary and
collaborative approach with specialists in orthopaedics,
sports medicine, spinal disorders, hand surgery, metabolic
bone disease and osteoporosis, rheumatology, radiology,
chronic pain management, and therapy services. We
understand that no two patients are alike. Therefore, our
specialists develop a specific treatment and rehabilitation
plan that best meets each patient’s needs.
In collaboration with the orthopaedic surgeons, the
infectious disease physicians provide comprehensive
services in the diagnosis and medical management of
infectious diseases, including inpatient and outpatient care
of those affected with complicated, unusual, or difficult-tomanage infections.
Foot, Ankle, and Podiatry
We provide excellent care for an expansive range of foot and
ankle problems. This program provides a strong, balanced
approach to the challenges of both primary and complex
surgery, as well as podiatry.
Hand and Wrist
Our surgeons are comprised of specialists from orthopaedics
and plastic surgery. They understand that your hands are
more than body parts; they’re some of your most important
tools for living.
Hip and Knee Joint Arthroplasty
Our physicians provide reconstructive services for a broad
range of lower extremity problems. Weekly joint replacement
education classes prepare patients for their pre-operative,
hospital, and rehabilitation experiences.
Orthopaedic Oncology
The Musculoskeletal Oncology Program specializes in the
diagnosis, treatment, and reconstruction of benign and
malignant tumors affecting the musculoskeletal system.
The team is composed of fellowship-trained subspecialists
from orthopaedics, radiology, pathology, adult and pediatric
oncology, and radiation therapy.
Osteoporosis and Bone Health
Osteoporosis, a skeletal disease characterized by weak
bones that are prone to fracture, can be debilitating if left
untreated. Our Bone Health Clinic seeks to identify patients
at risk for this disease and initiate therapies that can
preserve their bone strength and quality of life.
Pediatric Orthopaedics
Our pediatric specialists have the advanced training
necessary to treat spinal deformities in children and
adolescents, complex limb deformities, and more.
Clinics are available for scoliosis, cerebral palsy, muscular
dystrophy, and spina bifida. Our team of specialists
is backed by the full resources of Penn State Hershey
Children’s Hospital. Staffed with a full spectrum of pediatric
medical and surgical specialists, it houses the region’s only
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
Physiatrists diagnose and treat musculoskeletal injuries,
pain syndromes, and injuries to the nervous system nonsurgically. They work with therapists and other physicians
to develop a rehabilitation plan that is designed for the best
patient outcomes.
Physicians/Providers
Penn State Hershey Bone and Joint Institute is comprised of physicians, nurses, and other providers dedicated to providing the highest
quality of care through a multi-disciplinary team approach. Many of our physicians are fellowship trained and developed subspecialty
interests in addition to general orthopaedics and trauma. Several are known internationally for their expertise.
