Soft Tissue Injuries Abrasion-injury that occurs when several layers of skin are torn loose or totally removed. Treatment Clean with peroxide/H2O & soap Leave open if not oozing, otherwise cover with nonstick dressing and antibiotic ointment. Soft Tissue Injuries Lacerations/cut-injury that results form a tear in the skin Larger than .25 in deep and .5 in long needs stitches. Treatment Clean with soap and water only. Soft Tissue Injuries Avulsions-injury in which layers of the skin are torn off completely or only a flap of skin remains. Treatment Clean with soap and water. Replace the skin over the wound so it can heal. Soft Tissue Injuries Puncture Wound-injury caused by a sharp object that penetrates the skin. Treatment Clean with water and soap Increased risk of infection due to deep moist area. Soft Tissue Injuries Hematomas-formation caused by pooling of blood and fluid within a tissue space.
