Point-by-point responses to the reviewer’s comments on the manuscript
Dear Editor
I am pleased to resubmit for publication the revised version of 49372-240794-1-SM “Magmatic evolution
and compositional characteristics of tertiary volcanic rocks associated with the Venarch manganese
mineralization, SW Qom, Central Iran”. I appreciated the constructive criticisms of the Editor and the
reviewer. I have addressed each of their concerns as outlined below.
Reviewers' comments:
Reviewer A:
comment 1: Have you determine this mineral by microscopic studies?
Response: This mineral has been detected by electron microprobe analysis.
comment 2: What is the host rock composition of this deposite?
Response: The host rock composition is pyroclastic rocks. These units have been shown in Fig 1.
comment 3: The reference and some information about the map should be mentioned.
Response: It is corrected as suggested
comment 4: The scale of the map is needed to be added.
Response: Figure 1 is corrected as suggested
comment 5: The position of the mine is not mentioned in the map.
Response: Figure 1 is corrected as suggested
comment 6: If it is possible please shoe the mineralization zone in the figure 1.
Response: In the Venarch deposit, the Mn mineralization forms a few centimeters to 1.5 meter lenses. So we can
not show them in fig 1.
comment 7: Referring to the figure 2a should be mentioned here.
Response: It is corrected as suggested
comment 8: Referring to the figure 2 should be mentioned here.
Response: It is corrected as suggested
comment 9: Abbrivations for minerals should be written on each figure.
Response: Figure 2 is corrected as suggested
comment 10: There have been no reffering to this figure in the MS.
Response: It is corrected as suggested
comment 11: The words in diagrams are too small to be read easily. They need to be enlarged.
Response: Figure 3 is corrected as suggested
comment 12: There have not been mentioned any information about symbols.
Response: It is corrected as suggested
comment 13: Is there any propilithic alteration in the area?
Response: Propylitic alteration occurs at relatively low temperatures. So this alteration is not seen in this deposit.
comment 14: It is better to describe mineral composition of the deposite .
Response:
We added the mineral composition in Conclusions
comment 15: The references must be written as the Journal format.
Response: It is corrected as suggested
Reviewer C:
I had gone throguh the paper .related questions and objection given within the text with red color. The
above mentioed paper can be publshed under the condition ansever the ariesed question within the text
and imporve the Alteration ,conclusion section and the english of the text.
comment 1: The deduction lemit and degree of accuracy of the instruments should be mentioned.
Response: The Table 1 added as suggested.
comment 2: The Venarch manganese mine is associated with late Eocene basic to intermediate volcanic
activities (Tahmasbipoor and Fazeli, 2010). The basaltic and andesitic volcanic lavas and pyroclastic
rocks are deposited in the sedimentary basin in which magmas are enriched in iron and to some extent
manganese. (what are the concentration these eleemnts )?
Response: The concentration of elements added in Table 1.
comment 3 These elements are then precipitated as oxides and Fe-,Mn-, and Si-hydroxides what are those
Si hydroxide?
Response: We apologize for the mistake. The sentence was edited as suggested. “These elements are then
precipitated as Fe- Mn oxides and hydroxides (such as goethite, hematite, magnetite and manganite), and
carbonates during magmatic lull”.
comment 4 Allteration part and the alteration of ore deposit is not well established . For evolution of Mi
deposit it need more and better reason.
Response: For recognition of different types of alteration and more reason, we added Table 2.
