Cultural Anthropologists Study people from all over the world Culture in America What might people from other cultures think is different? ETHNOCENTRISM: Judging others by our own understanding of the world. Brazilian culture is different from American culture, one is not better. Ethnography How anthropologists study humans They make ethnographies, or descriptions of the culture made by studying people very closely. HOW? Going into the field Anthropologists study people “in the field”. They commit to living with the people they study, usually for at least an entire year. Why do they stay for so long?
