FRIDAY SERMON
SUNNAH OF RASULULLAH S.A.W.
USTAZ MOHD YUSOFF BIN MOHD RAWI
IMAM
MASJID SULTAN ISMAIL
ISLAMIC CENTRE
UTM JOHOR BAHRU
• Dear brothers, may Allah bless you,
• Let us be taqwa to Allah SWT truly.
May our taqwa make us receive the
blessing and guidance from Allah
SWT.
• Allah says in the Quran:
• Which means:
• O you who have believed, obey Allah
and obey the Messenger and those
in authority among you. And if you
disagree over anything, refer it to
Allah and the Messenger, if you
should believe in Allah and the Last
Day. That is the best [way] and best
in result.
• Surah An Nisa’ verse 59
• Dear Brothers,
• If we observe advertisements,
newspapers, magazines, Internet,
we get noticed that the behaviour
of certain individuals whether they
are from they are local or foreigner,
they tend are widely accepted by
supporters regardless of the
societies’ class.
• Sometimes the high praised that
was given to them is to an extent of
imitating their lifestyle, fashion style
and such. The obsession of
imitating their lifestyle sometimes
make us forget about our
Muhammad SAW.
• We are lucky to be given the honour
of being Prophet Muhammad SAW’s
nation, the last and special prophet
as compared to the other Prophets.
Allah SWT command that we should
love our Prophet. He said in Surah
Al-Ahzab verse 6:
• Which means:
• The Prophet is closer to the
believers than their ownselves, and
his wives are their (believers')
mothers (as regards respect and
marriage).
• The verse told us that Prophet
Muhammad SAW should be
respected, loved and followed his
command by the pious more than
their selves and their need.
• Here, Imam Muslim narrated that
Prophet Muhammad said:
• “The Iman of a muslim is not
complete until he loves me more
than himself, his wealth, his children
and the human race altogether.”
• Dear Brothers,
• Prophet Muhammad SAW was
chosen by Allah swt to bring peace
to the world. History has shown that
human lives were chaotic and filled
with cruelty before Prophet
Muhammad saw was sent down.
• When Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.
was sent down, the peace,
happiness, and harmony of the
society restores. Brotherhood is
built, the women status is brought
higher and the weak is being
protected.
• It is a circumstance that the Prophet
Muhammad saw through Islam had
managed to inculcate the manners
and ideal lifestyle to human beings.
• The lifestyle based on the Shari’a of
Islam should be our example. This is
synchronize with Allah command in
Surah Al-Ahzab verse 21 that was
read earlier.
• The Prophet saw is our role model,
the carrier of Islam that obliged on
good manners and behaviour
because it is the apparent
measurement of one’s strong and
complete Iman.
• A person Iman is complete when
they instil good behaviour and
manners. Just like the opposite,
when a person has a corrupt
behaviour and immorality, it shows
his weak Iman and ignorance.
• Rasulullah saw said:
• “The heaviest of all deeds being put
on the Scale on the Day of
Judgement are Submission towards
Allah (Taqwa) and good behaviour.”
• Among the highest and nobleness of
the Prophet’s saw behaviour that
we can follow are:
• Firstly, a strong hold in upholding
the truth. This shows the strength of
Iman. Prophet Muhammad saw is a
determined person and never bows
to what the enemies’ offer.
• Secondly, commitment and
continuation of the Prophet saw in
doing his ibadah. He performed his
ibadah until he hurt his leg as a
result of standing for a long period.
• Mughirah bin Shu’bah r.a reported
that Rasulullah saw performed such
lengthy prayers, that his legs
became swollen.
• The Sahabah said: “You undergo
such great difficulties, where Allah
had forgiven your past and the
future sins.” Rasulullah saw said:
Should I not be a grateful servant?
• Thirdly, the flawless and noble
behaviour of Rasulullah saw that
Allah mentioned in Surah Al-Qalam
verse 4:
• And verily, You (O Muhammad SalAllaahu 'alayhe Wa Sallam) are on
an Exalted standard of character.
• One of his noble attributes are
lovable characteristic, friendly and
did not create enemies when living
in a society.
• Many claim to have love Rasulullah
and his Sunnah but yet they did not
practice the right Islamic teaching.
• The Sahabah sacrifice their lives,
willing to lose their wealth, children
and parents to prove their love to
Rasulullah and his Sunnah.
• Imam al-Tirmizi reported that
Abdullah bin Mughaffal said:
• A person met Rasulullah sand said:
Ya Rasulullah, by Allah, I truly love
you. Rasulullah s.a.w. replied:
Observe what you have said.
• The person said again: By Allah, I
really truly love you, Ya Rasulullah.
He said it 3 times.
• Then Rasulullah saw said: If you
truly loves me, get ready to
withstand proverty, hardship and
get ready to build your iman
because you will confront hardship
because poverty will come faster to
those who loves me than the flood
coming down the steep ravine.
• Let us together increase our Iman,
Ibadah and behaviour like
Rasulullah s.a.w. And hopefully,
Muslims will always be respected
and blessed by Allah swt here and
the Hereafter.
• Say (O Muhammad to mankind): "If You
(really) love Allâh Then follow Me (i.e.
Accept Islâmic Monotheism, follow the
Qur'ân and the Sunnah), Allâh will love
You and forgive You of Your sins. and
Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”
• Surah ali-imran verse 31)
