1、Mobile Phone Introduction
This phone use MT6589 platform of MTK and support GSM(GPRS)/WCDMA.
2、Schematics Introduction
Block Diagram
This phone mainly include four parts:RF circuit, baseband circuit,
function circuit and IO circuit. Each of them is introduced bellow.
2.1 RF circuit
RF circuit include GSM receive circuit, WCDMA receive circuit, GSM
transmit circuit and WCDMA transmit circuit.
WCDMA+GSM part
2.1.1 GSM receive circuit
GSM receive circuit include antenna, RF connector CON703(W+G), RF switch
and GSM transmit module U702, GSM radio transceiver module U601 and
peripheral circuits. The internal schematic of U702 as bellow.

RF signal enter phone from antenna. It pass through CON703 and arrive
PIN26 of U702. U702 is controlled by U201. The control voltage and signal
as bellow.
Receive signal from U702 to U1202/U603/U604/U607/U616. Then RF signal will
be sent to RFIC U1101.
The module of U601 is MT6167. The internal schematic of MT6167:

The main receive work is done in U601. RF signal enters to U601 from
LNA8N/LNA8P, LNA7N/LNA7P, LNA6N/LNA6P and LNA5N/LNA5P. Finally, U601 send
4 paths I/Q signals to CPU U201.
2.1.2 WCDMA receive circuit
WCDMA receive circuit include antenna, RF connector CON703, RF switch
U702, filter U616 and U607, WCDMA radio transceiver U601 and peripheral
circuits. The internal schema of U1201 as bellow.
RF signal enter phone from antenna. It pass through CON703 and arrive
PIN26 of U702. U1201 can switch from GSM to WCDMA. WCDMA signal arrive at
U616 and U607. Receive signal arrive to RFIC U601 from U616 and U607.
The module of U601 is MT6167. The internal schematic of MT6167:

The main receive work is done in U601. RF signal enters to U601 and
finally send 4 paths I/Q signals to CPU U201.
2.1.3 GSM transmit circuit
GSM transmit circuit include U601, U702, CON703 and antenna.
MIC change analog voice signal to analog electric signal. The analog
electric signal enter CPU U201. U201 send 67.7KHZ 4 path IQ signals to
U601.

U601 send RF signal to PIN9 and PIN10 of U702. Then the signal is sent to
antenna from RF connector CON703. The signal is transmitted from antenna.
2.1.4 WCDMA transmit circuit
WCDMA transmit circuit include U601, U708/U713, U607/U616, U702, CON703
and antenna.
MIC change analog voice signal to analog electric signal. The analog
electric signal enter CPU U201. U201 send 4 path IQ(IP, IN, QP, QN) signals
to U601. U601 send RF signal through PA U708/U713, duplex U607/U616, antenna
switch U702. Transmit signal sent to antenna from RF connector CON703. The
signal transmitted from antenna.

GSM part
2.1.5 GSM receive circuit
GSM receive circuit include antenna, RF connector CON1701(GSM), RF
switch and GSM transmit module U805, GSM radio transceiver module U1704 and
peripheral circuits. The internal schematic of U805 as bellow.

RF signal enter phone from antenna. It pass through CON1701 and arrive
PIN15 of U805. U805 is controlled by U201. The control voltage and signal
as bellow.
Receive signal from U805 to U1705/U1706/U1707/U1708. Then RF signal will
be sent to RFIC U1704.
The module of U1704 is MT6163. The internal schematic of MT6163:

The main receive work is done in U1704. RF signal enters to U1704 from
LNA2N/LNA2P, LNA7N/LNA7P, LNA6N/LNA6P and LNA4N/LNA4P. Finally, U1704 send
4 paths I/Q signals to CPU U201.
2.1.6 GSM transmit circuit
MIC change analog voice signal to analog electric signal. The analog
electric signal enter CPU U201. U201 send 67.7KHZ 4 path IQ signals to U601.

U1704 send RF signal to PIN2 and PIN4 of U805. Then the signal is sent to
antenna from RF connector CON1701. The signal is transmitted from antenna.
2.2 Baseband circuit
Baseband circuit mainly include U201 and U501.
The module of U201 is MT6589. It’s CPU of phone. The internal schematic:

U501 is the memory circuit of phone. 16GB EMMC +16GB DDR2 SDRAM. 1.8V
voltage supply. EMMC is hard disk similar to PC. When phone is power on,
program will be sent to DDR. It can make phone power on fast.

2.3 Power management circuit
Power management circuit mainly include PMC IC U301.
The module of U301 is MT6320. It provide voltages to baseband, RF part, external
IO connectors.

2.4 Function circuit
2.4.1 Motor driver
U201 output control signal to motor driver IC U1101.

2.4.2 Receiver, MIC, speaker and headset circuit
HSN, HSP/MICP0, MICN0/ HPLP/HPLP, HPRP, MICP0, MICN0 from U301 will be
sent to Receiver/MIC/speaker/headset.
HPLP signal will be sent to speaker after amplify by AUDIO PA(U401).

2.4.3 BT circuit
The module of BT is MTK6628. It’s a FM/BT/WIFI/GPS four in one chip.

2.4.4 WIFI circuit
The module of WIFI is MTK6628. It’s a FM/BT/WIFI/GPS four in one chip.
The internal schematic is same as BT part.
The RF connector connects with external antenna.
2.4.5 GPS circuit
The module of GPS is MTK6628. It’s a FM/BT/WIFI/GPS four in one chip.
The internal schematic is same as BT part.
It communicates with CPU through UART3.

2.4.6 FM circuit
The module of FM is MTK6628. It’s a FM/BT/WIFI/GPS four in one chip.
The internal schematic is same as BT part.
It’s work is controlled by U201 through UART. Clock signal also provided
by U201.

2.4.7 IO connector circuit
1) SIM card circuit
This phone support dual SIM. SIM1 support GSM/WCDMA, SIM2 only support
GSM. The internal schematic:

2)LCD and TP connector circuit
LCD is connected to PCBA by FPC. The data and control signals are provided
byU201. Voltages VDD28_PMU and VDD18_PMU are provided by PMU U201. The

The LCD backlight driver U901 is on PCBA. Its output voltage support to

3)Camera connector circuit
This phone has two cameras. Camera is controlled by U201.
The main camera is connected to PCBA by MIPI. The voltages supply

4)Keypad and backlight connector circuit
There are 6 keys totally, 1 power key, 2 volume keys and 3 touch keys.
When keys pressed, interrupt sent to CPU. CPU will identify which key

Power key: The signal is sent to CPU through connector on PCBA. The

The 3 touch panel keys are on capacity touch panel. The signal is sent to

5)USB connector circuit
This phone uses 5PIN MIRCO USB connector. It support USB2.0(480Mz data
transmission). It also can be used for SW download. The USB connector
circuit:
6)SENSOR circuit
G-SENSOR is mainly used to identify the direction of phone. It supports
3 directions (X, Y, Z) induction. It communicates with CPU through I2C. U301
provide VDD28_PMU and VDD18_PMU to G-SENSOR.

M-SENSOR is electric compass. It’s used for instructing direction. It
supports 3 directions (X, Y, Z) induction. It communicates with CPU through
I2C. U301 provide VDD28_PMU and VDD18_PMU to M-SENSOR.

Light sensor is used for identifying the environment brightness and
adjusting the LCD brightness. It can save power. Distance SENSOR is used
for identifying the distance between user’s face and phone during a call.
If the distance is less than a value, phone will turn off the touch panel
and LCD. It can save power and avoid mis-operation. It communicates with
CPU through I2C. U301 provide VDD28_PMU and VDD18_PMU to Light-distance
SENSOR.
3、Typical fault repair.
1. Download Fail
1)Check the soldering of USB connector CN903.;
2)Check the voltages output by U301. If not correct, solder or replace U301.
3)Check 26MHz output by X601.If it is, check whether the PIN D11 of X601
output 26MHz.If not, check the soldering of X601and U601
4)Check the soldering of U501.
5)Check the soldering of U201.
6)Check TVS diode(VR1102,VR1103,VR1104) whether placed correct.
2. Not power on
1)Download SW. If can’t download, repair it reference 1.
3. No display or display abnormal
1)Check the connection between LCD-FPC and CN902
2)Check the soldering of CN902
3)Check connector of LCD-FPC.
4)Check the voltages output by backlight IC.(about 30 V);
5)Solder or replace U201.
4. Can’t identify SIM card
1)Check the connection between SUB board and Main board.
2)Check the soldering of CON401
3)Check VSIM voltage. If not correct, solder or replace U301.;
4)Solder or replace U301.

5. Charging fail
1)Check the soldering of USB connector CN903.
2)Check the soldering of U204 and U210.
3)Solder or replace U301.
4) Check FPC connector is loosen or damaged
6. No ringtone or ringtone abnormal
1) Check the phone setting. If the ringtone be turned off.
2)Re-download SW or Restore to factory setting.
3)Check the shrapnel of speaker.
4)Check the soldering of earphone socket.
5)Check the soldering of AUDIO connect (J1104)
6)Check the soldering of U301.
7)Solder or replace U301
8)Check FPC connector is loosen or damaged
7. Front camera not work
1)Check the connection between front camera and PCBA.;
2)Check the soldering of connector CN602.
3)Check VDD_DVDD_1_5V, VDD_DOVDD_1_8V and VDD_AVDD_2_8V. If
not correct, solder or replace U301.
4)Solder or replace U301.
8. Main camera not work
1)Check the soldering of CN601.;
2)Check VDD_DVDD_1_5V, VDD_DOVDD_1_8V and VDD_AVDD_2_8V. If
not correct, solder or replace U301.
3)Solder or replace U301.
9. Keypad or side key not work
1)Check the assembly or touch panel.
2)Check the soldering of side key.
3)Check if keypad signal output by U101. If no, solder or replace U201.
4)Solder or replace U201.
10. Receiver not work
1)Check the shrapnel between PCBA and receiver.
2)Solder or replace U301.
11. MIC not work
1)Check the MIC is placed the wrong way
2)Check the soldering of J1003

3)Check the touch panel voltage VDD_TP .If not correct, solder or replace
U1302.
4)Replace a good CTP
14. BT not work
1)Check the soldering of BT chip U1401.
2)Check the soldering of BT antenna shrapnel J1401,J1402.
3)Check the soldering of antenna switch U1403
4)Check the output of U1505 and U1401. If not correct, solder and replace U1505
and U1401.
4)Solder or replace U201.
15 WIFI not work
1)Check the soldering of WIFI chip U1401.
2)Check the soldering of WIFI shrapnel J1401.J1402
3)Check the soldering of U1403.
4)Check the output of U1505 and U1401.If not correct, solder or replace
