Nick Zibbideo God/Goddess Artemis Aphrodite Demeter Hera Athena Ares Hephaestus Role in Greek Society Ruled over the earth’s untamed places. She sided with the Trojans during the war. She represents women who stray from the “conventional” way and have taken a more individual and liberated route in life. Goddess of love and beauty. She was envied by other goddesses for her beauty. After receiving the golden apple from Paris, she awarded him with Helen. However, Helen was not hers to give. Aphrodite sided with the Trojans during the war, and used her powers to protect her mortal son, a Trojan warrior. She married Hephaestus and carried on an affair with Ares. Goddess of agriculture and fertility. Thought to have first taught mortals how to work the land and reap its harvest. She has the ability to control the seasons. Peaceful farmland now lays where the Trojan war was thought to have taken place, which is believed to be evidence of her power. Queen of Mt. Olympus. The guardian of married women, as she knew the bitter sting of infidelity from her marriage with Zeus. Often vindictive towards those who thwarted her. She became a fierce enemy of the Trojans and helped the Greeks at every possible moment. Goddess of war and wisdom has divine intellect and extraordinary strength. She emerged from the head of Zeus fully clad in armor. She was a fierce enemy of Troy until the Greeks defiled her temple there. She had Poseidon unleash a storm that wreaked havoc on the returning Greek ships. She was also known as the protector of the home. God of war and brutality. Embodies the worst of humanities traits. During the Trojan War he aided the Trojan warrior Hector. Today, Ares still casts a shadow across the world as his love for chaos echoes. Described as ugly, and is the god of fire. Extraordinary powers with smithing. Master of fire and forge which he used to create beautiful objects such as Zeus’s thunderbolt and Athena’s armor. Fashioned Achilles’ Armor. Gentle character. Offers wisdom as a link between gods and man alike. Taught mortals healing arts including music. Gifts of enlightenment helped humans. He aided the Trojans in the Trojan war. Centuries later, man named their journey Apollo, after the god. God of water and the sea. Watches over his domain from deep beneath the surface. Sided with the Greeks in the Trojan War, however unleashed a storm wreaking havoc on them one they started sailing home. God of thunder. Refused to take sides in the Trojan war. Bestowed Paris with the duty of awarding the golden apple to the fairest of the goddesses. Father of Helen. No paragon of virtue. Very unfaithful to Hera. Messenger of Zeus, patron god of travelers, and thieves. Aided Odysseus in his travel home. Creating foot racing as he was always running around. Is seen the most in Greek mythology.
