Formed deep in Earth's crust
Formed two ways:
1.) crystalized by melting materials
2.) crystalized from dissolving in
water.

Minerals From Magma
When magma cools into a solid state, it
forms crystals.
Magma that cools slowly, deep under
ground creates large crystals.
Magma that cools rapidly closer to the
surface and/or on the surface (lava)
form small crystals.

Minerals From Hot Water Solutions
Elements dissolve in hot water to form a mineral
Dissolved minerals form a solution
a mixture in which one substance dissolves
in another.
When the solution starts to cool, the elements and
compounds leave the solution and crystalize
Pure metals usually form veins underground
a narrow channel
When minerals go through veins and reach ocean
floor ("chimneys") crystalize and settle to the ocean
floor.
