April Spelling Activities
4. Use a dictionary to
write a definition for each
of your spelling words.
5. Write each of your
words in a sentence.
6. Write your spelling
words as fractions. The
top number shows how
many consonants and the
bottom number shows the
total number of letters.
7. Write each spelling
word. Then add up the
value of each letter.
Consonants are worth
10 points and vowels are
worth 5 points.
11. Write your entire
spelling list, end-to-end, as
one long word. Use a
different color for each
word.
12. Create a word sort
and categorize your
words according to
parts of speech (noun,
verb, adverb,
adjective, etc.).
13. PERFORMANCE
14. Write your spelling
words in backwards
ABC order from z-a.
18. Write each spelling
word. Then write it again
but leave one letter out…
then write it again and leave
TWO letters out… then
three… until your word has
disappeared!
19. Write each of your
spelling words. Now,
divide each word into
syllables. Use a
different color for
each syllable.
20. Write your spelling
words in backwards ABC
order from z-a.
21. Write each of your
words in a sentence.
27. Using the beginning
letter of each word,
write same-letter
sentences for each word.
Example: Wanda wanted
a white wolverine.
28. Write each spelling
word in a rainbow of
colors. First, write the
words with a red crayon.
Trace over the words
with a blue crayon.
Finally, trace the words
again with a green
crayon.
25. Make a chart and sort
your words according to
syllables.
26. Write a sentence
for each of your
words. Use a
classmate’s name in
each.
