THE SOUTH SECEDES – January 1861
Abraham Lincoln is the president of the
untied stated of America.

These states became the “confederate states
of America”
They create a confederate government
in February 1861.
Jefferson Davis was named president of

FORTS – February 1861

President Buchan refused to surrender
southern federal forts to the seceding

Abraham Lincoln wrote that all slaves that fought
against the union would be freed, because of the
emancipation proclamation over four million slaves
were freed.

THE BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG July 1863
Fought from July 1st to July 3rd
Was another one of the bloodiest battles in the civil
war
In the three days between 46,000 and 51,000 soldiers
were killed
