Role Summary :
Responsible for raising the profile of the ACSS in the research and public sphere across the Arab region and
globally, and the dissemination of the research and other work sponsored and organized by the ACSS.
Responsible for planning communications activities of the organization and ensuring their implementation in
line with overall strategy to realize desired positioning, coverage and reach
Responsible for all aspects of the public interface of the ACSS with its various constituents: researchers,
donors, the media, policy makers, universities, NGOs and research centers.

1. Prepare and share Communications Strategy & plan
including
positioning
&
segmentation
overview
implementation.
2. Work with the Director General to set communications
strategy (including PR, Media, events) in order to
present the Council through the right tools & provide
the right message to our internal and/or external
stakeholders in line with ACSS strategy.
3. Orient the setting of ACSS Website Development and
intranet strategy. Define the online communications
strategy in order to optimize the use of those channels
in achieving the ACSS strategy. Define contractual
scope of the suppliers, draft tenders, review proposals,
and recommend companies to collaborate with.
4. Manage the development and maintenance of the
website and the various social media accounts.
5. Manage the visual presentation of the ACSS including
branding, production of brochures, media kits, leaflets,
and posters as needed
6. Prepare and share marketing communications, branding
and media & PR yearly plan and budget to contribute to
achieving Council’s strategy & objectives and increase

brand equity.
7. Generate content for social media, blogs and
communities, as well as develop text for ACSS letters
and communications, executive speeches, quotations,
etc…
8. Develop text for media campaign or ad, PR event, press
releases.
9. Liaise, brief, evaluate and review the work of the writers
(grantees, fellows, …), translators, editors, copywriters,
etc…
10. Manage with the Finance & Admin Manager the
relationship with the contracted suppliers, conduct
performance review and recommend action steps
11. Manage the relationship with media channels and
representatives.
12. Manage the communications work load and
responsibilities including print publications and oversee
progress of work on all outsourced projects.
13. Maintain the ACSS scholars’ database including mailing
and other specialized lists.
14. Get involved in research projects, most immediately
with the production of a biennial report on the “State of
the Social Sciences in the Arab Region”
15. Research similar NGOs in the region, review their
literature, marketing and communications materials,
and initiatives.
16. Manage, monitor communications budget, and track
spending deviations with respect to estimates

Educational Requirements:
 Preferably Master Degree in Arts, Social
Sciences, or Business Administration
Knowledge, Technical Skills and
Experience:
 7 to 10 years total experience with at least 5
years in communications, writing, and editing
 Minimum 2 years in web editing and design
experience
 Working knowledge of CSS and HTML, and
Adobe Creative Suite (including InDesign) is
required
 Experience with Microsoft Office Productivity
Suite is an asset
 Knowledge in branding, communications and
media & PR
 Knowledge of IT environment
 Excellent writing skills in Arabic, English,
and French
 Familiarity with the social sciences and its
vocabulary specially in Arabic
 Familiarity with producing and editing
multimedia materials for audio/video related
web content
 Ability
