Performance (60 minutes) Created by pianist Eunbi Kim, in collaboration with actress Laura Yumi Snell, and directed by Kira Simring, Murakami Music is a theatrical concert inspired by the works of Japanese novelist Haruki Murakami. A number of Murakami's characters play piano or are passionate about music, and there are references to classical music, as well as popular music to jazz and blues. This program will include performances of piano works with theatrical readings that explore the complexities of the lives behind the pianists in Murakami's books including "Sputnik Sweetheart," “Kafka on the Shore,” and "Norwegian Wood." Requirements: Highly adaptable; can work in multiple settings from black box theatre, concert stage, and salon room or classroom, between 2-­‐5 performers, and with or without stage lighting. recent performances and media appearances:

Laura Yumi Snell is an accomplished pianist, singer, and actress. Born Pianist Eunbi Kim thrives in collaborating with other art forms to and raised in Los Angeles, her artistic career began as a classical pianist, present classical and contemporary music in unique settings. Her most performing and competing in venues across California, Japan, and recent project “Murakami Music”, a series of multi-­‐disciplinary Austria from a very young age. She attended the University of California, presentations based on the writings of novelist Haruki Murakami, was Davis on a full scholarship and received B.A.s in Music (piano incubated and presented by the cell theatre in Chelsea and also performance) and Dramatic Art. As a singer and actress, she won many presented at NYC’s Symphony Space this past fall.
