Troubleshooting: Telly the Teaching Time Clock #4528 Problem: Telly does not speak. Action: Check the batteries for proper instillation and freshness. Problem: Telly does not play. Action #1: Rotate (spin) the batteries within the battery compartment to ensure a good connection. Check that all batteries are installed properly. Action #2: Check all batteries for freshness, if weak or dead replace with new batteries. Use an alkaline battery (E.G. Duracell or Energizer brand). Action#3: Make sure that you have your switch plugged in all the way. There should be no gaps. USER’S GUIDE Action#4: Try your external capability switch with another toy/device to rule out the switch as the source of the problem. Care of the Unit: Telly can be wiped clean with any mild household multi-purpose, nonabrasive cleaner and disinfectant. We recommend Simple Green, which is a non toxic biodegradable all-purpose cleaner. Do not use abrasive cleaners, as they will scratch the surface of the unit. Do not submerge the unit, as it will damage the electrical components. For Technical Support: Call our Technical Service Department Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (EST) 1-800-TEC-TOYS or 1-800-832-8697 [email protected] 50 Broadway Hawthorne, NY 10532 Tel. 914.747.3070 / Fax 914.747.3480 Toll Free 800.832.8697 www.enablingdevices.com Fun way to learn time! Press and hold your capability switch and Telly’s hands move around the dial. Release your switch and Telly will tell you the time in 5 minute increments. Teaches both analog and digital time. Also works as a real clock with night light. Size: 11"H x 8¼"W x 2½"D. Requires 7 AA Batteries. Weight: 2 ½ lbs. Operation: 1. Telly requires 7 AA batteries. Use alkaline batteries only (e.g. Duracell or Energizer brand). Do not use rechargeable batteries or any other type of batteries because they supply lower voltage and the unit will not perform properly. Never mix old and new batteries together or different brands or types together. 2. Turn the unit to face the black battery compartments. Carefully remove the small screws from the battery compartment covers using a Phillips head screwdriver, and slide the covers off. Observing proper (+) & (-) battery polarity, install AA size batteries into the holders. Replace the battery compartment covers and screws. 3. To Set the Clock: The two small blue buttons above the digital display must be held simultaneously until the clock starts flashing 12:00. Pressing the left button changed the hour and the right button changes the minutes. 4. Connect Telly to any external capability switch via the jack, located on the back right side of the unit. Telly is equipped with a 1/8-inch jack, for use with capability switches with a 1/8-inch plug. If you need to use a 1/4- to 1/8-inch adapter use our No.1170 adapter. If purchased elsewhere, it must be a mono adapter, not stereo. 5. Turn Telly’s ON/OFF switch to ON; there are two volume settings to choose from as indicated Low and High. When first turned ON a clock bell will sound and the user will be greeted by Telly saying “Hello how are you I am Telly the Teaching Time Clock”. Telly has two modes of operation to chose from, Teaching Time or Quiz Game. After Telly is turned ON you can select the mode of your choice using the indicating controls on Telly. 5. In either mode, activating your switch and maintaining activation turns Telly’s clock hands in a clockwise direction. Stopping activation of your switch stops the hands moving. In the Tell Time mode, when you stop Telly’s clock hands, Telly will announce what time it is. The time will also show on Telly’s digital clock. When using the Quiz Game mode, Telly will ask you to find a time which Telly chooses randomly. Important Note: We have covered the clock hands on Telly with a clear plexiglass cover. Do not try moving Telly’s clock hands by hand, doing so will damage Telly. The clock hands can only be moved through the use of your attached switch. Troubleshooting continued on back page.
