The Sun
By Emmerson Cavanagh,
Stephanie Troiano, Shylah
Chetcuti 7G
The Sun is the star at the center of the Solar System. It is almost
perfectly spherical and consists of hot plasma interwoven with
magnetic fields
Distance to Earth: 149,600,000 km
Surface temperature: 5,778 K
Mass: 1.989E30 kg
Radius: 695,500 km (1 R☉)
Coordinates: RA 19h 4m 31s | Dec 63° 52.200'
Orbits: Galactic Centre
The core of the sun
This slide is called
the core of the sun,
the word “core”
means the middle,
for example a apple
core is that middle
of the apple but for
this case it is the
middle of the sun
The middle of the
sun is the hottest
part of the sun 27
million degrees, the
Sun is considered
to extend from the
centre to about 0.2
to 0.25 solar radius.
Solar radius is a
distance from the
stars.
How hot is the sun
I’m sure that everyone has asked this question once in their life “ how hot
is the sun” well that is what I'm here for if your question remains a mystery.
The sun’s Surface temperature is 5,778 which produces heat the closer
you get to the sun the hotter it is so when you see the sun in the sky its not
hot because it is so far away from us.
Does the sun ever go away?
No
The sun never goes away, even at night the moon comes out but the sun
never leaves
The sun does not move the earth is the one that moves around the sun so
during the night the sun does not go anywhere it is so dark that you cant
see it
Sometimes the clouds block the sun at night that is one of the reasons why
it gets so cold at night.
The Sun lives in our galaxy in the middle of the orientation in
our solar system and all the planets go around it. It gives them
all light.
Radiative zone
Below about 0.7 solar ranges, solar material is hot and dense
enough that thermal radiation is the primary means of energy
transfer from the core. This zone is not regulated by thermal
convection however the temperature drops from approximately
7 to 2 million kelvin with increasing distance from the core.
Thank you for reading I
hope that you learnt more
about the sun that you
didn’t know before.
