Instructions for Remote Access
by Teachers to
Chancery SMS, PowerTeacher, and DocuShare
PLEASE NOTE: The following information is provided to assist teachers with
accessing Chancery SMS, PowerTeacher, and DocuShare from computers with
Internet access outside the Memphis City Schools network. Memphis City
Schools cannot assume responsibility for such access and cannot provide
support for hardware, software, or Internet services which are outside its
network.
(1) First ensure your computer has the latest version of Java installed. You
may download it for free at www.java.com .
(2) Direct your web browser to https://mcsvpn.mcsk12.net .
You should see the following screen:
(3) Enter the Username and Password you use for Learning Village. (For
future reference, this is considered your Active Directory login, and it may
differ from your Chancery SMS/PowerTeacher login.) Click on “Sign In.”
(4) You should then see the following screen. Click on “Run,” and allow the
application to load.
(5) Once the application has run, you should see the following screen:
(6) To use Chancery SMS and PowerTeacher, click on the link for “Chancery
SMS Web Application” and the following screen will appear. This screen is
the same as your log on screen for Chancery SMS. (Please ignore the
graphic at the top of the screen.) As you would from your school
computer, enter your Chancery SMS User ID and Password and click “Log
On.”
(7) From this point, everything should operate as it would while accessing
Chancery SMS from school. You can get to PowerTeacher by selecting
the link from your Chancery SMS home page.
(8) If you want to reference the materials on DocuShare, you merely click on
“DocuShare 2 Web Server” as seen in step 5. No login is required for
viewing documents on DocuShare. Simply choose the collection (folder)
containing the information you need.
(9) You can now use Chancery SMS, PowerTeacher, and DocuShare from
home!
