Job Purpose
Provide a range of support to a Faculty marketing team in delivering communications and
marketing activities and coordinating events.
Main activities and responsibilities
1. Provide a range of support for a Faculty marketing team by assisting with a range of
marketing activities and events.
2. Maintain efficient administrative systems to support team activities.
3. Maintain a team diary and calendar of activities, deadlines and events.
4. Schedule and coordinate events including making bookings, liaising with event
organisers, contributors and attendees to ensure details of events are clearly understood
and communicated.
5. Provide general support, trouble shooting and assistance to help with ‘on-the-day” issues
and ensure events run smoothly.
6. Answer general queries about Faculty marketing and communications matters. Where
appropriate direct queries to relevant colleagues and follow up to ensure they are
responded to.
7. Respond to requests for information and data.
8. Produce and circulate reports and other information as needed.
Additional Key Requirements:
Managing People and Resources
May supervise support staff including student opportunity workers.
Undertake financial administration associated with raising purchase orders, processing
invoices, recording expense claims and timesheets and similar.
Communication
Respond courteously to enquiries and queries from colleagues, visitors and customers.
Communicate frequently with colleagues, students and visitors. There is a requirement for
good interpersonal skills, and the ability to flex communication style.
Teamwork and collaborative working
Work with colleagues, and flexibly as needed to provide efficient and effective marketing,
communications and events support and general administrative support as needed.
Initiative, problem solving and decision making
Resolve marketing, communications and events queries seeking advice and support from
relevant colleagues or managers in order to respond to more complex or unusual queries.
Work environment
Be aware of the risks in the work environment and the potential impact on own work and that
of others. Assist with risk assessment processes for events as needed.

Person Specification
 Relevant vocational qualifications such as a Foundation certificate in marketing, NVQ
Level 3, or able to demonstrate equivalent work experience and relevant skills.
 Previous experience in a similar customer service or office environment.
 Experience of organising events.
 IT skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office.
 Knowledge of administrative procedures and systems such as filing, record keeping and
diary management.
 Good written and verbal communication skills
 Able to demonstrate an organised approach to work, ability to work on own initiative and
prioritise different tasks.
 Ability and aptitude to learn new skills quickly.
 Good attention to detail and accuracy.
Special requirements
Able to undertake duties at different premises including any University campus as required.
There will be a requirement to work outside of normal office hours at various locations in
order to attend and manage events.
All Marketing and Communications staff are expected to engage in the wide range of
activities undertaken within the Department. In support of student recruitment including open
days, applicant visit days, business/community events, Clearing and the production of
marketing collateral.
Restrictions are in place relating to the booking of holiday during times of peak activity such
as mid-August.
