06/05-W97-Lu Instruction Sheet 731 16 System T 10: Electrical Machines Safety instructions All of the machines are constructed according, to the protection class 1 and designed to correspond' to the safety stipulations laid down in VDE 0530 (= IEC 34). • Make sure that the protective earth connection has been established before putting the system into operation.' • The equipment may only be operated under continuous observation. • When carrying out the electrical connections of the machine make sure that you take the machine data on the rating plate of the machine into consideration. • Any modifications to the experiment set-up may only be performed when the power has been switched off and the machines are at a standstill. • In order to prevent physical contact, the exposed shaftends have been covered by shaftend guards (731 07, 731 07 F or 732 57). The couplings are covered with coupling guards (731 08, 731 08 F or 732 58). • The thermal circuit-breaker of the device under test is connected to the respective control unit each time before the system is put into operation. Under no circumstances may the supply voltage of the machine be connected up via the thermal circuit-breaker! If, more than one machine is connected up in an experiment set-up, then the thermal circuit-breakers are connected in series. If several devices with thermal inputs are used in an experiment set-up, e.g. a control unit and a universal converter, the thermal circuit-breakers of the machines may only be connected to one device. The thermal inputs of the other equipment are then short-circuited. • Because of the inductances brought about by, the rotor rotation in machines with commutators, it is very easy to exceed the limiting values, on producing line-bound distortion signals in low-voltage networks as set forth in European standards and guidelines. In order to reduce the distortion signals, the DC voltage supply units DC stabilizer 240/6 (725 852 D) and the DC stabilizer 240/15 (725 862 D) are already equipped with the corresponding disturbance suppression filters. Furthermore, there are two additional training panels equipped with filters available. In order to meet industry standards, the equipment should be combined as specified in the table. These measures are designed solely to meet the legal requirements and do not in any way influence the, operation of the machines. 1 General The T 10 system contains DC, AC and three-phase machines for hands-on training. Using these machines and other equipment like starters, field regulators and various special switches like the star-delta switch, rotation direction reversal switch etc. a whole variety of experiments can be performed in the subject area of electrical machines. Such features like standard characteristic curves as well as the demonstration of typical operating states can be carried out easily and in a straight-forward manner. A magnetic powder brake with integrated torque recording is used as a mechanical load in motor experiments. When the machines are operated as generators, capacitances, inductances and resistors are used as electrical loads. Characteristics of the device under test can be recorded in all four quadrants with the aid of pendulum machines, which are also equipped with integrated torque recording. Control devices for the magnetic powder brakes or pendulum machines permit the device under test to be subjected to constant speed or torque loads either in automatic or manual operation. The rotation speed is recorded via an analog or digital tacho. Both the machine to be tested as well as the brake or pendulum machine can withstand high thermal loads and are additionally protected against overload by the thermal circuit-breaker (NC contact) integrated into the windings. The rapid and easy assembly of the multiple machine sets is carried out using attachable, elastic couplings (power grip couplings). The self-centering connection of the base is secured with star-handled screws. Rotating parts are covered with protective hoop guards. The machines can be obtained in the 0.1, 0.3 and 1.0 kW power classes. The 0.1 and 0.3 kW machines have a shaft height of 71 mm. The 1.0 kW machines have a shaft height of 90 mm. In order to set-up the machine set, the star-handled screws have to be loosened first. To couple two devices (e.g. motor and brake) a coupling sleeve has to be slid onto the shaft of the motor or brake (731 06 or 732 56) and then the two units are pushed together until their two bases touch. To securely fasten tighten the star-handled screws again. By attaching the coupling guards (731 08, 731 08 F or 732 58) and shaftend guards (731 07, 731 07 F or 732 57) any unintentional physical contact with the rotating parts of the machine is prevented. The multi-pole connection of the brake is connected to the control unit. In the case of the magnetic powder brake 1.0 (732 54) the additional integrated ventilator has to be connected via the mains cable. The thermal circuitbreaker of the machine is then connected to the control unit and the protective neutral connection is established. When connecting up the machine please remember to take the nominal machine voltage specified on the rating plate into consideration. Detailed experiment descriptions and characteristics can be found in the experiment manuals accompanying the respective machines. The functions of the control unit for the magnetic powder brake and the pendulum machines are described in the instructions sheets included with these devices. n STO P rpm n [ 1V /1 0 0 0 r p m ] O N LY M O T O R O P E R A T I O N M 1[ V / N m ] MM AX START U [ 1 V / 1 0 0V ] Nm !
