Welcome to our first edition
Clinical Trials
At any given time, Inspira Medical Center Vineland, Frank and Edith Scarpa Regional
Cancer Pavilion is involved in more than 25 clinical trials covering a wide range of cancers
and related conditions. Our commitment to research has given hundreds of cancer
patients in our area access to cutting-edge medicine. In addition, research fosters
collaboration and learning opportunities for our oncologists, surgeons, specialists and
general practitioners.
Partnership with Fox Chase Cancer Center
We established a partnership with Fox Chase Cancer Center in 1995. This collaboration
enables us to:
Work with specialists via video teleconferences, including a GU Tumor Board,
to review treatment plans
Provide quick and convenient referral services to and from
Fox Chase Cancer Center
Participate in national clinical trials
Comprehensive Cancer Research
Our researchers are dedicated to moving the innovative ideas of today from the research
lab to the bedside as quickly and safely as possible. We have conducted research that
studies:
Reducing cancer recurrence
Stopping tumor growth
Finding more effective cancer treatments
Reducing side effects
Highlighted Study
We are pleased to offer patients access to a large-scale national colon cancer prevention
study called NSABP P-5.
The purpose of the NSABP P-5 study is to find out if rosuvastatin (also called Crestor®)
might prevent the occurrence of polyps in the colon and rectum, colon cancer recurrence,
and development of a new colon cancer in patients with a history of colon cancer.
Participants will include men and women who:
Have had a Stage 0, I, II, or III colon cancer surgically removed within the
last 12 months;
Are not currently being treated for high cholesterol or are not on any
cholesterol-lowering drugs, including statins; and
Have a colonoscopy within the last 6 months or are willing to have one
at study entry

“Men and women that participate in cancer
clinical trials are truly heroes that consider
others as they are going through cancer
treatment themselves. Information learned
from clinical trials direct development of
new cancer treatments that very often
improve the care of future cancer patients.”
