Director of Marketing – Cathedral High School | Indianapolis, IN
Cathedral High School is seeking a Director of Marketing to provide leadership to all of the
school’s marketing and public relations initiatives. This position will work closely with the
Advancement (fundraising) and Enrollment departments of the school.
We are looking for a creative and talented individual who will speak passionately and
articulately about Cathedral’s mission, vision, and Holy Cross values. The Director of
Marketing will shape the brand of the school while increasing the awareness and enhancing the
overall positive image of the school. This individual will represent Cathedral and our message at
school, community, and constituent events while engaging and providing outreach to our
community through social media.
The ideal candidate will have a background in marketing and public relations and will preferably
be an active member of an Indianapolis area Catholic parish. In addition to keen messaging,
proofing, and organizational skills, we are looking for someone with video/design capability and
a desire to be a part of a faith-filled community.

SUMMARY:
TheDirectorofMarketingreportstothePresidentandisresponsiblefordevelopingand
leadingthemarketingandpublicrelationsinitiativesoftheschool.Astheleaderofthe
marketingeffort,theDirectorisresponsibleforshort‐andlong‐termplanningaimedat
shapingthebrandoftheschool,increasingtheawarenessofthisbrand,andenhancingthe
overallpositiveimageoftheschool.ThispositionworkscloselywiththePresident,
Principal,VicePresidentforEnrollmentManagement,andVicePresidentforAdvancement
toattractandretainmission‐appropriatestudentsandfamiliesandtogeneratesupportfor
theschool.
ESSENTIALDUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIESincludethefollowing.Otherdutiesmaybeassigned.
Marketing/Branding
 DevelopandimplementaStrategicMarketingPlanthatsupportstheschool’s
strategicinitiatives.
 Collectdataandconductstudiesastheyrelatetoenrollmenttrends.
 AnnuallydevelopayearlymarketingSWOTanalysis.
 CommunicatetheStrategicMarketingPlanwiththeBoardandseniorschool
administrators.
 Manageallaspectsofpublicationdesignandadvertisingforenrollment
managementandadvancement,toincludeprint,broadcastandonlinemedia.



Overseethecreationofcompatiblethemes,tonesandqualityacrossallcommunications
media.
Responsibleforoverseeingthecontent,appearance,placement,budgetandtimingofall
institutionalstatements,including:advertising,promotion,publicrelations,direct
marketingandpersonalselling.
Serveastheprimarypersonresponsibleforwebsitecontentandintegrationofsuch
contentwithintheStrategicMarketingPlan.OverseeeffortsoftheCommunications
Coordinatorand/orWebmaster,andworkcloselywiththeChiefInformation
Officer,tomaintaincurrentinformationandfunctionality.
PublicRelations
 ServeasCathedral’sprimarypublicrelationsofficer.Developandmaintainprofessional
contactsandaffiliationswithmedia,production,andrelatedexternalresourcestocomplete
projectseffectivelyandtofacilitateandpromotethedisseminationofnewsandpublicity
aboutCathedralHighSchool.
 Manageoverallprocessofquarterlynewsletter(Highlights),andelectroniccorrespondence
forthePresident,VicePresidentforEnrollmentManagement,VicePresidentfor
Advancementand/orPrincipal.
 Serveastheschool’sofficialspokespersonwhenthePresidentand/orthePresident’s
designeearenotavailabletodoso.ResponsiblefordisseminatingaconsistentCathedral
message.
Leadership
 Serveasamemberoftheschool’sExecutiveTeam.Offersexpertiseandsupportothe
ExecutiveteamintheareasofMarketing,Communication,andPublicRelations.








Conductanannualauditofallcommunicationsforcostandeffectiveness.
Developthemosteffectivemixofcommunicationsfunctions(advertising,promotion,public
relations,directmarketingandpersonalselling).
Ensurethatofficialcommunicationsarescheduled,budgetedandappropriateinmessage.
Managetheuseofallofficialschoollogos,colorsandfonts.Ensureallcommunicationsare
scheduled,budgetedandappropriateinmessage,useoflogos,colorsandfonts.
Manageandcoordinatevendorsofcommercialprinting,advertisingandpromotion
services.
Developandmaintainworkingrelationshipswithfaculty,staffandadministrationto
implementbusinessdevelopmentprojects.
EffectivelycommunicatemarketingstrategiestotheBoardofDirectorsandtheEnrollment
Management&MarketingCommitteeoftheBoard.
Supportandassistwithmarketingand/orcommunicationsforcampaignsandspecial
events.
SUPERVISORYRESPONSIBILITIES:
DirectlysupervisestheWebmaster/marketingteam.Carriesoutsupervisoryresponsibilitiesin
accordancewiththeorganization’spoliciesandproceduresandapplicablelaws.Responsibilities
includedinterviewing,hiringandtrainingemployees;planning,assigning,anddirectingwork;
appraisingperformance;rewardinganddiscipliningemployees;addressingcomplaintsand
resolvingproblems.Inaddition,thispositiondirectlymanagesrelationshipswithoutsidevendors
andcommittees.
QUALIFICATIONS:Toperformthisjobsuccessfully,anindividualmustbeabletoperformeach
essentialdutysatisfactorily.Therequirementslistedbelowarerepresentativeoftheknowledge,

EDUCATIONand/orEXPERIENCE:
Bachelor'sdegree(B.A./B.S.)fromafour‐yearcollegeoruniversity;oronetotwoyearsrelated

marketingexperience(minimumoffiveyears),preferablyinaneducationalsetting.Proficientin
Word,Excel,PowerPoint,Outlook,desktoppublishing,andsocialmedia.Abilitytocreatewebsite
contentaplus.
LANGUAGESKILLS:
Abilitytoread,analyze,andinterpretthemostcomplexdocuments.Abilitytorespondeffectivelyto
