There are two types of electric charges: positive and negative. The steady state flow of electrons under the constant PD is called Electron Drift Deliver The Promise Learning Social Responsibility Page -10 Respect for Individual Entrepreneurship Teamwork Engineering of Mechanical Department of Technology, Institute BS&H, GMR Rajam Humility Deliver The Promise Learning Social Responsibility Page -11 Respect for Individual Entrepreneurship Teamwork of Mechanical Department Technology, of Engineering GMR Institute Rajam Humility 7-May-17 Deliver The Promise Learning Social Responsibility Respect for 12 Individual Engineering of Mechanical Department of Technology, Institute BS&H, GMR Rajam Humility Entrepreneurship Teamwork What is the analogy between Electricity and water In a direct current (DC) electrical circuit, the voltage (V in volts) is an expression of the available energy per unit charge which drives the electric current (I in amperes) around a closed circuit. Increasing the resistance (R in ohms) will proportionately decrease the current which may be driven through the circuit by the voltage. Each quantity and each operational relationship in a battery-operated DC circuit has a direct analog in the water circuit. The nature of the analogies can help develop an understanding of the quantities in basic electric ciruits. In the water circuit, the pressure P drives the water around the closed loop of pipe at a certain volume flowrate F. If the resistance to flow R is increased, then the volume flowrate decreases proportionately. You may click any component or any relationship to explore the the details of the analogy with a DC electric circuit Deliver The Promise Learning Social Responsibility Page -13 Respect for Individual Entrepreneurship Teamwork of Mechanical Department Technology, of Engineering GMR Institute Rajam Humility 7-May-17 Deliver The Promise Learning Social Responsibility Respect for 14 Individual Entrepreneurship Teamwork of Mechanical Department Technology, of Engineering GMR Institute Rajam Humility 7-May-17 Deliver The Promise Learning Social Responsibility Respect for 15 Individual Entrepreneurship Teamwork of Mechanical Department Technology, of Engineering GMR Institute Rajam Humility 7-May-17 Deliver The Promise Learning Social Responsibility Respect for 16 Individual Entrepreneurship Teamwork of Mechanical Department Technology, of Engineering GMR Institute Rajam Humility 7-May-17 Deliver The Promise Learning Social Responsibility Respect for 17 Individual Entrepreneurship Teamwork of Mechanical Department Technology, of Engineering GMR Institute Rajam Humility 7-May-17 Deliver The Promise Learning Social Responsibility Respect for 18 Individual Humility Entrepreneurship Teamwork of Mechanical Department Technology, of Engineering GMR Institute Rajam Assignment -1 • What is Electrical Power and to measure it? • What is Electrical Energy and how to measure it? • What are the symbols used for resistor, inductor and capacitor? • What is inductance/reactance/capacitence/resistan ce? 7-May-17 Deliver The Promise Learning Social Responsibility Respect for 19 Individual Entrepreneurship Teamwork Engineering of Mechanical Department of Technology, Institute BS&H, GMR Rajam Humility Deliver The Promise Thank you Learning Social Responsibility Page -20 Respect for Individual
