Also learn and copy terms of lesson 14 given on lesson sheet +new words p 119 in your notebook p120: Accomplish Ex-D in your notebook+ Draw a diagram of the solar system in your notebook+ accomplish worksheet 3 LESSON SHEET TERMS of Lesson 12 "Weather” weather the condition of a place at a given time in relation to heat, cloudiness, wind, rain and cold humidity the amount of water vapor present in air breeze slow moving air or gentle wind wind moving air storm strong winds along with thunder and rain flood a rising and overflowing of a body of water especially onto normally dry land drought continuous absence of rain famine shortage of food and water for a long time season the period during which the same weather conditions remain for a few months natural disaster a natural event such as a flood, earthquake, or hurricane that causes great damage or loss of life hurricane extremely large, powerful, and destructive storm with very strong winds and heavy rain tornado violent and destructive storm in which powerful winds move around a central point cloud burst sudden and very heavy rainfall typhoon violent wind that has a circular movement vapor substance diffused or suspended in the air, especially one normally liquid or solid evaporate to change from a liquid or solid state into vapor rainbow an arch of colors visible in the sky, caused by the refraction and dispersion of the sun's light by rain or other water droplets in the atmosphere precipitation any form of water, such as rain, snow, sleet, or hail, that falls to the earth's surface 1 Science ISK GRADE 3 Water Cycle In summer, evaporation rate is high. Water from seas, rivers, lakes ponds evaporates faster and turns into water vapor which rises in the air. The air above is cool so water vapor cools and changes into tiny drops of water. These water drops form clouds. Inside the clouds, the small drops join together and become bigger and heavier. When they are very heavy, clouds cannot hold them and the water falls to the ground as rain. This rain water flows back into the ponds, lakes, river and seas It again evaporates and we get rain. In this way, this cycle is continuous and is called water cycle. Ex-D p103: How does the Sun’s heat affect the humidity of a place? The Sun’s heat leads to the presence of more water vapor in air and thus makes weather humid. Additional question: What are the seasons in Kashmir? (Write the question and answer in your notebook. TERMS of lesson 13 “Pollution” pollution addition of harmful substance to our natural resources water pollution the substance that make water dirty and not safe or suitable to use air pollution contamination of air by smoke and harmful gases soil pollution the presence of materials in the soil which are harmful to the living beings noise pollution loud or unpleasant sounds that is caused by automobiles, airplanes, etc that is harmful to the people who can hear it TERMS of lesson 14 “Our earth and its neighbors” solar system our sun and the planets that move around it axis real or imaginary line on which something rotates, or a straight line around which things are evenly arranged new moon when the moon is not seen at all 2 ISK Science GRADE 3 Write how a rainbow is formed? You can refer to previous year’s NESB 2 Chapter on Rainbow.
