Human Body “Organ-izer” No bones about it! Name _______________________ Standards: S7L2c- Explain that cells are organized into tissues, tissues into organs, organs into systems, and systems into organisms. S7L2e- Explain the purpose of the major organ systems in the human body (i.e., digestion, respiration, reproduction, circulation, excretion, movement, control, coordination, and for protection from disease). Objective: To create a booklet that describes the structure and function of the major organ systems in the human body. Directions: For each body system you will… 1. Explain the overall function of the system. 2. Identify and provide the functions of the main organs of the system. 3. Describe the interactions with other systems in the human body. 4. Include a picture of the system or an individual organ in the system (some illustrations will be provided for you, some you will have to find on your own). 5. Include information regarding the rubric category you created on your own. - You must create one additional topic of interest for your project. This can be anything you would like, but it must be applicable to ALL systems… so plan ahead! (Acceptable examples: interesting facts, trivia, statistics, diseases of the system, etc) 6. Include any and all information given to you in class (vocab, worksheets, etc). Body systems you must include in your Human Body Booklet: - - Digestive System - Respiratory System - Circulatory System - Excretory System - Muscular System - Skeletal System - Nervous System - Immune System Integumentary System AC add: Endocrine System AC add: Lymphatic System Name ___________________________________ Due Date: _____________ Period: ____________ Parent Signature (2 bonus points): _________________________________________ Human Body “Organ-izer” Cells to Systems CATEGORY Body Functions 8 6 4 2 Student accurately describes the overall function of all body systems. Student correctly identifies major organs (and functions) for all body systems. Accurate descriptions of overall system functions. 2-4 errors in the identification of major organs and their functions. Minor errors in descriptions of overall system functions. 5-7 errors in the identification or major organs and their functions. Organ System Interactions Student accurately describes the interactions between all body systems. Descriptions of system interactions are present and only include minor errors. Descriptions of system interactions are present, but include significant errors in accuracy. Descriptions of overall functions of body systems are mostly inaccurate. Organs and functions do not match appropriate systems. Descriptions of system interactions are missing. 4 3 2 1 Attractiveness & Project Organization Student planned for the visual presentation of the human body booklet. Exceptionally attractive formatting and wellorganized information. The project has attractive formatting and has mostly well-organized information. The project formatting and organization of material are confusing to the reader. The formatting and organization of information appears thrown together or done at the last minute. Classroom Material Student included and accurately completed all information provided by teacher. Material provided by teacher are present, but include minor informational errors. Graphics/ Pictures Student provides reader with pictures that correctly match with the appropriate system. Labeling is correct where required. Pictures are present and match with the appropriate system, but a few labels are missing and/or incorrect. Material provided by teacher is missing. OR material is present, but mostly incomplete. Pictures do not go with the accompanying text or appear to be randomly chosen. Choose your own category (choose wisely) Category Name______________ ______________: Student supplies the reader with additional information that is both accurate and interesting. Information is presented with appropriate body systems. Additional information is interesting, but contains minor errors in accuracy. Material provided by teacher is incomplete and/or contains significant errors in accuracy. Pictures are present, but some do not match the appropriate system. OR many labels are missing and/or incorrect. Additional information is interesting, but contains significant errors in accuracy. 34 points total Total Earned: ____/34 points = ______% Additional information is missing and/or is not matched with appropriate body systems.
