Tia’Desha Harris Location Sumer/Mesopotamia Ur- 31ºN 48ºE Ancient Egypt Cairo- 30ºN 30ºE Israelites Jerusalem- 32ºN 35ºE Region/Human Environment Interaction Sumer/Mesopotamia- The physical characteristics are Tigris and Euphrates Rivers surrounding Mesopotamia, the canals, the large empires and the mountains, which was the border of Sumer. Ancient Egypt- The physical characteristics are the cataracts, the Nile, and the desert. Cotton (used for clothing), gold (used for statues), amulets, papyrus (used for baskets sandals), granite and other types of stone (used for beads and jewelry) are all natural resources. Israelites Jerusalem- The physical characteristics are the fertile plains, grassy slopes, rocky hills and arid deserts. Some types of land uses are trading routes, marketplaces, and battlefields. Economics/Movement Sumer/Mesopotamia- The goods produced were mostly of natural resources, such as copper, silver, tin, soapstone, and lots more. These goods are transported by wheels, canals and boats. And they would use money to pay for items. Ancient Egypt- The goods were produced by growing and finding them. The types of goods produced were gold, animals, and food. These goods are transported by canals and money was rarely used to pay for them. Israelites Jerusalem- Goods that were traded were many natural resources. When it came to trading routes, marketplaces, and battlefields, Canaan was very popular. Political Science/Government Sumer/Mesopotamia- In the earlier times, the people were governed by the male groups. Kings were known as the leaders and for a certain amount of time, Sumer/Mesopotamia was ruled by a king. Ancient Egypt- Ancient Egypt was ruled by the pharaoh and official government, who made the many laws they have now. Israelites Jerusalem- Israelites were ruled by the rabbis and priests. Knowledge, Education and The Arts Sumer/MesopotamiaAncient Egypt- New knowledge developed in Ancient Egypt was the solar calendar, which corresponded almost exactly to the seasons. Most of Ancient Egyptians’ art is found on the inner walls of pharaohs’ tombs. These paintings expressed the daily lives of the Egyptians. Israelites Jerusalem- Religion and Philosophy Sociology
