ASO has become the market leader in producing high-quality consumer wound and health care products which are now the preferred choice for consumers in the USA and abroad. ASO products are primarily sold under the brand name of mass merchandisers, food & grocery retailers, drug store chains, as well as distributors in professional medical markets. ASO has partnered with these retailers to provide high quality products with innovative brand strategies which build store brand value, increase returns, and enhance market share in the categories of products we provide. In March of 2014, ASO was selected as Walmart’s supplier of the year besting all other branded companies and private label suppliers in the health and beauty care category. In April of this year, ASO was awarded TOPCO’s 2015 supplier of the year for the health & beauty care category. Our success is directly attributable to ASO’s talented employees who innovate, create and support the highest quality products within our marketplace at the best possible price and value for the consumer. We are currently seeking a New Product Development Intern working out of our global headquarters in Sarasota, FL. ASO’s New Product Development paid internship will offer direct, hands-on consumer packaged goods product development experience within first-aid/wound care, respiratory, and foot care categories. ASO’s products are sold in all major retail channels – mass, food, drug, dollar, club and online. You’ll actively learn by carrying out real-life new product development projects handling various tasks throughout the stage gate process including direct coordination and interaction with sales, marketing, regulatory, quality, sourcing, creative services and other key stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: Acts as a liaison with internal departments gathering information and documentation as needed for new product development. Maintains and organizes Design History Files, obtaining signatures as required for required documents and stores appropriately on internal drives. Coordinates and performs internal user studies, including the creation of the study questionnaires, preparing study samples, distributing the samples and surveys, gathering and compiling study results, and presenting study results to the Project Team. Maintains and organizes New Product Development Samples. Prepares and submits Trial Run requests. Coordinates 3rd party testing along with reporting the status of the testing. Education / Experience Bachelor’s degree in general business, marketing or other related field preferred yet not required. Additional coursework or seminars in Project Management a plus. Skills & Abilities Hold strong communication skills, able to multi-task handling multiple functions concurrently. Must be detail oriented, organized and have strong MS Office computer skills. Possess initiative, common sense and analytical/problem-solving skills. Able to work both independently and with cross-functional teams. Able to learn Smart Sheet (project management), Persistence and the ability to influence without direct authority is a plus. Visual acuity or corrective vision required for this position including close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
