Notes on Adjectives
An adjective is a word that is used to modify a noun or pronoun.
o To “modify” a word means to describe the word or to make it more definite.

o Some words (e.g., this, that, some, either) can be used as both adjectives and pronouns.
 Pronoun: I like that.
 Adjective: I like that shirt.
o Many words, usually used as nouns, can also be used as adjectives.

Ernest, who is invited nearly everywhere by friends, has his favorite definition of “life of the party.” He
