Chapter 4- Society Take Home Quiz
Chapter 4 investigates society through the eyes of four sociologists. You will have the
opportunity to answer important questions about society through Gerhard Lenski, Karl
Marx, Max Weber and Emile Durkheim.
Step 1- Read chapter 4 of your textbook, pages 90-110 and take notes on the visions of
each of these sociologists.
Step 2- Answer the following questions for each of the visions of the four men in 2-3
sentences:
1. What makes the lives of people around the world different from your life as a high
school student in the United States?
2. How and why do all societies change?
3. What forces divide a society?
4. What forces hold a society together?
Step 3- When you are finished answering the above questions, write a paragraph
describing which of the four visions you agree with most.
