TRANSFER FACTS
 The University of Wisconsin – Platteville accepts the Associate in Arts and Science degrees from all Illinois
Community Colleges. Transferring with these degrees will ensure students have met all university general
education requirements.
 All applications receive a comprehensive review. Academic preparation is the primary criteria used in the
admissions review process. Transfer students are likely to be admitted if they have a cumulative grade point
average (CGPA) of 2.00 or higher in college transfer courses and are in good standing at the institution they are
currently attending or have attended.
 Applicants must have 12 or more transferable credits from an accredited institution to be considered for admission
as a transfer. Applicants with fewer than 12 credits must meet new freshman admission requirements.
 Grades of “D” do transfer; however, some major and most biology courses require a minimum grade of “C”.
Students begin a new GPA upon admission to University of Wisconsin--Platteville.
 Students completing the AA/AS degree will have the foreign language requirement waived. Students transferring
without the AA/AS degree will be required to complete one semester of a single foreign language for the B.S. or
two semesters for the B.A., unless they met the requirement by completing one (B.S.) or two (B.A.) or more years
of high school foreign with a grade of “C” or better.
 Students are encouraged to apply early to ensure advance registration. For fall admission, students are
encouraged to apply by January 1. For spring admission, students are encouraged to apply by September 1.
