Regular Attendance
Bring pen and pencil, notebook, textbook, and agenda to class each day.
All make-up tests will be the student’s responsibility.
Be prepared to discuss reading in class.
LATE WORK WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED FOR CREDIT.
Compliance with all provisions of the East Coweta Student Handbook.
This course, like any other, does not allow time to deal with uncommitted, undisciplined
students.
Tests:
Students should expect to be tested regularly and cumulatively. There is approximately one test
per chapter or every two or three chapters at the most. I attempt to schedule tests on any day BUT
Monday, however this is not always possible. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE UP
MISSED TESTS WITHIN 3 DAYS OF YOUR RETURN TO SCHOOL. AFTER 3 DAYS, YOU
WILL RECEIVE A 0.
Pop Quizzes:
Pop quizzes are designed to reward students for attendance, as well as review material. Often pop
quizzes will follow new material and occasionally students will be allowed to use their notes. These
can easily bring up a lower grade, or drastically hurt a student who does not attend class regularly.
POP QUIZZES CANNOT BE MADE UP. IF YOU MISS A POP QUIZ AN ALTERNATIVE
ASSIGNMENT MUST BE COMPLETED TO EARN CREDIT FOR THE MISSED QUIZ.
Homework:
This is an advanced class, therefore you should expect to have homework every single night. Many
nights your homework will be reading or completing an in-class assignment. Regardless, you should
review the material intensely and often.
Daily Work:
This class is based primarily on lecture and class discussion. Most daily assignments originate from
the NOTEBOOK you must turn in the day of the chapter test. The notebook is to include all notes
and assignments from the chapter. Also, each student must submit a chapter timeline and review
sheet with his or her notebook. Do not wait until the night before the test to work on this!
Chapter ID Cards (vocab cards) are due the day of the chapter test as well. ID cards must be on
3x5 index cards with the term on one side and a lengthy definition (written in YOUR OWN
WORDS) on the opposite side. Cards copied from the book or from another classmate will NOT
receive credit.
Methods of Instruction may include but not be limited to
Individual reading & writing
Limited number of videos
Class discussion & debates
Small group activities
Research in the media center or computer lab
